First of all let's be clear this hotel is NO five star. We stayed for two nights in the Chinese room. The owner is not being fair as the gallery image of the Chinese Room is not what you actually get. The pictures on the back wall of the bed have been removed as have the nice ornates over the fire place which have also been taken out. The IPOD docking station is of poor quality as the speakers give out a high pitched squeak when you play the device. The shower head also leaks spurting water to the left all over the wall. When I mentioned all of these points to the owner I was simply told " oh that's nice" The room also has a safe in the room but this does not work. I was told that the batteries had gone but the owner did not no how to replace them. For £160 per night this is not five star nor does it represent good value. Thankfully the breakfast was of reasonable standard. Toiletries and bath robes are of cheap quality for what is regarded as a five star hotel.

Room Tip: Don't be fooled by gallery images. Go by reviews or ask the owner if the gallery image is a true reflection of what you get.

Stayed in the "Zen" room, filthy dusty . No direct access to hotel. Cold walk to breakfast reception and lounge/bar. Overpriced everything! Chinese landlady thinks this is 5star, stayed in nicer B+Bs .
dont go

Room Tip: go somewhere else

We chose this hotel because of its gardens and view to the city. Unfortunately there were no rooms on that side of the hotel, but the room we had was enormous, with a great big comfortable bed. The bathroom was also more spacious than standard, and for once our towels were left hanging on the rails for reuse as we wanted rather than being changed regardless of the stated environmental policy as in many other places we have stayed. As others on this site have said, there is a main road outside, but we weren't disturbed by any traffic noise at all, perhaps as hotel set back a bit. Breakfast included a choice of fruit and cereals, as well as a hearty full English, taken in a room with that wonderful view of the city out over their own gardens. There was also a very comfortable lounge with newspapers and magazines, and a fire. It also had a bar, though we didn't use this. Service was very good - helpful and friendly - throughout, including finding me some lemon and ginger teabags when we arrived back late after our Friday night to use instead of standard tea with the kettle and teapot in the room.

Overall, a very comfortable stay, worth paying the extra.

Room Tip: The standard rooms and the de luxe ones are both at the back with the lovely view, the superior rooms are at the front but very nice.

We stayed here in September 2010. We were in Bath for the Jane Austen festival, and were in full atire and attended the Regency Ball. This hotel was the perfect setting for such a weekend. English style, with a beautiful private English garden at the back which had direct access to our room. The breakfast was first class, and the staff were very helpful. The location is ideal and there was no problem parking. I would certainly recommend this hotel. Plus, Bath is such a wonderful city, you can't fail to have a good time!

Me, my husband and two teen-aged boys were travelling by car. We spent one day in Bath. Maybe a litle short but the accomodation was excellent. A very nice atmospeher woth a full english brakfast. The room were very comfortable and well furnished and the garden was beutiful. Even though we just stayed for one night we had time to enjoy the faciities of the hotel. It was really worth the money. The center of Bath was in walking distance from the hotel.
Parking was avaible at the entrance of the Hotel.
A hotel with the little extra for romantic couples or for family with teenagers.
