House Of Tea and Chi
Ranked #1 of 2 Dessert in Glastonbury
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$4 - US$7
Description: We are a small Tea House/Cafe in the heart of the historic town of Glastonbury. We offer a wide range of quality loose leaf teas and amazing locally roasted coffee. We always have vegan and gluten free options for lunch and snacks, including a delicious selection of cakes. Everything is homemade from scratch, using local products and suppliers wherever possible. We are set just off the high street but well worth the visit, especially if you like to get away from the crowds and craziness that our wonderful town is known for!

Peaceful, comfy, clean, friendly and the cake is amazing.

Phenomenal range of tea but I always have coffee because that's good too. Recently branched out into their hot chocolates. The one with orange in is delicious.

Comfy sofas, baby changing facilities. Decent food at reasonable prices... Oh, and you can have accupuncture there too. Handy!

This was our second visit to Glastonbury and the House of Tea and Chi. We consciously returned here due to the tasty food, array of teas and epic Chocolate cake that we had sampled on our initial visit.
Situated on a quiet road, just off the high street, we stumbled upon this eatery easily whilst shopping. The interior is quirky, relaxed and inviting. Immediately the atmosphere is calming and positive. We were greeted warmly with a smile and this invited us to peruse the menu. The menu was clear with a wide range of teas, hot and cold beverages and food, with a description detailing each below. This made it easier to make an informed choice of what to order.
We opted for the Beautiful skin tea and a Masala Hot Chocolate with a blend of spices. The tea arrived in individual cast iron teapots and we were advised as to the brewing time of each. The Beautiful Skin tea was refreshing and fragrant, tantalising our senses and invoking a sense of calm. Although warming and spicy, we would have preferred the Hot Chocolate to have been more chocolately in flavour.
For lunch we decided to order the Yellow Curry with flatbread. This curry was exceptional! Bursting with flavour and packed with vegetables, paired with the flatbread and chutney, this was a perfect combination.
We ordered the Epic vegan Chocolate cake to takeaway as we were satisfied with the curry. This cake was rich, moist and fudgey. One of the best chocolate cakes we have ever had!
What separates the House of Tea and Chi from the rest of the Cafes in Glastonbury?
Its warming and cosy atmosphere, the knowledgeable and friendly staff and the exciting menu, suitable for any dietary requirements.
We will be sure to return on every trip to Glastonbury!

If you want a treat... book for an afternoon tea at the House of Tea and Chai. You won't be disappointed.

The fluffiest, lightest scones we've ever had, as well as beautiful homemade pistachio- lime cake. We also tried the beetroot- chocolate and lemon-polenta cakes which were also superb. So many lovely flavours we had difficulty choosing and will have to go back again to try more!

Thank you for making our afternoon so memorable.

If it weren't for a sign point down Benedict Street, we would have missed House of Tea and Chai, which means we would have missed an excellent lunch, superb service and a tranqil atmosphere with free wifi. The list of teas available is impressive, and although we only had toasties for lunch, nothing too fancy, the bread was incredible, and the included side salad was large with nary an iceberg lettuce leaf in sight. Leave the High Street behind in Glastonbury and venture down Benedict Street! (It is vegetarian, vegan and special diet friendly.)

Thanks for taking the time to review us, we really appreciate it. We take all comments seriously and aim to improve all the time. We are a little confused by yours though. You say we have good vegan and gluten free cake but then said the cake was just fair? Could I ask you to clarify and let us know which cake it was please. All the cakes are home made and we have had lots of good feedback regarding them. If there was something not right about it then we will want to correct asap.
Thanks again and kind wishes,
Tamsin
