“Fantastic views, great walks”

A regular venue for dog walks we trample through the woods around the base of the castle regularly. It also has numerous footpaths leading away from it into the surrounding countryside and so it can easily be used as the basis of a great walk in the countryside. This is also the venue for the Shakespeare each year and can be very atmospheric and thought provoking. The visitor centre is informative and the staff helpful. The castle itself is now somewhat of a folly but it still represents a key landmark high above the ton and you can see it from the M6 between Junctions 13 and 14

Decent for walking the dog, few trails to follow, with decent views of Stafford. Walk up to castle is quite steep however.

Lovely views at sunset! We were sorry we arrived after the welcome center was closed for the day but enjoyed walking up to the castle, reading the placards and enjoying the lovely views of the surrounding area at dusk. The medieval garden would also be interesting in the summer.

The castle is kind of ruined, and you can't get in it. but what i really enjoyed is the view which was really incredible, and the road you have to walk to get to the castle is just amazing in everything since their is lots of big tall trees in the area.
