We stopped off for a set lunch at this small off the beaten track establishment on the way to Lakenheath Fen RSBP reserve to see if we could catch a glimpse of the Golden Oriole, sadly we did not but as compensation we did hear it singing. The meal was cooked with precision and was great value, we will return on our next visit if we can get a parking space which are at a premium in this area Bury St Edmunds and only for 1 hour at a time

We love this place - the service is excellent and the head waitress (joint owner with the chef) has a wonderful dry sense of humour. The menu is exciting and varied and the quality of the food is exceptional.

i recently visited your restaurant with my partner and was appauled with the service that was given by the staff espcially the so called manager that couldnt have been more rude if they tried, the food i thought was going to be of good quality looking at the menu and i went for the scallops to start i was disappointed as the scallops seemed over cooked for my liking, on to the main course which came out a good thirty minutes later i had the pheasant which again is something that i thought would be a good choice as i love game how wrong i was as the phesant had quite be well and truely over cooked when i mentioned this to one of the members of staff all i got was a very rude and abrupt response, all in all i will never visit pea porridge again and i urge people not to go there in a hurry as there are many other places in bury to eat that have a lot better food and staff that are actually friendly!!!!!!!!!!

I urge people not to be put off by this negative review.
Scollops have not been on the menu this year and when we have had pheasant it was on as a confit ( cooked slowly in fat).
This reviewer states that he visited in february, but we would not have sold pheasant then, as the season finishes on the 31st January, the same time as we stop cooking it.
We also have no manager here, let alone a "so called" one.
This review is written to achieve a response and is completely bogus.
Its so funny that i have become a victim of my own responses, but its a privilige to be the most talked about restaurant in suffolk.
Thank you.

I have been several times to Pea Porridge and enjoyed every moment. I live their natural and passionate approach to their ingredients and the way they present their food. Justin works very hard in the kitchen whole Jurga manages all the customers, and I know that's not an easy job! I am glad to see that the not so great reviews have been responded to and quite rightly, by Justin and Jurga and I couldn't agree with them more! Anyone who has anything unreasonably negative to say should just go elsewhere as clearly Pea Porridge is too special for them! Can't wait to visit again soon..it's top of my list for 'Treat to self!' when I manage to find a free table...not an easy task!

We'd heard a lot about Pea Porridge and were taken there by friends. I don't think either one of the four of us would return as the menu was quite "country" fare, so limiting, wasn't particularly memorable and din't provide the sort of dining experience that we were looking for.

This review is so vague and uninformative.
Our "country" style cuisine is what?
We do run a daily changing menu with 8 starters and 8 main courses, we utilise fogotten cuts and game, and meat on the bone, but i wouldnt say that our menu is limited.
The dining experience you were looking for was probably a fine dining, neatly ironed table cloths, formal type service, which, of course, can be very nice. Informal, laidback, relaxed, casual dininig experience is what we hope pea porridge offers.
Its a shame you made the wrong choice, but thanks for giving us a try.
Thank you.
