The park is very relaxing, with well-groomed trails. There are benches along the way, some with great views of the lake.
I went for a run, starting at the parking area at the southeast corner along First Lake Drive. I ran along First Lake to Metropolitan Ave and inadvertently ran off the trail and onto a sidewalk, then ran into a blocked entrance. Things broke down a little after that. After running to the end of Metropolitan Ave along the side of the road, the trail picked up again (and there's another parking area here) but it was loose, large, sharp rocks and a steep downhill grade. Not a really big deal, but I wouldn't want to be carrying a baby or pushing a carriage... Running along Second Lake, I saw a few trails going off away from the lake, but it turns out that these are to parking areas (I think).
There are some good hills to challenge you a little and this is a nice little 6-8 k run, depending on how many wrong turns you take. I ran the wrong way on Metropolitan, turning this from a 7k to an 8.5k run. The trail along First Lake is pretty flat. The hills come into play as you take trails between the two lakes.
I'd love to go back and do another run or walk here. It's not that complicated at all, I'm just an idiot sometimes with trying to follow broken trails. I bet you'l do much better at noticing and following signs and maps... :-)
This trail is in the woods and the setting is peaceful and away from traffic noise and it is great for a small stroll or a good hike because you can walk to the lake (2 Kms ther and back) or go for a much longer walk of 11 kms. You can also walk dogs on leash here so you and your dog companion can enjoy it together!
This is a delightful hiking and biking destination with excellent trails and beautiful Second Lake views and access points. It also joins with the trail system of neighbouring First Lake, another beautiful destination for hikers and bikers of all abilities. There are over 10 kms of well-maintained trails between the two trail systems.
I really like this park. There are close to 10 Km of trails. there's a few reasons there's a 3 km loop from the parking lot . There is a washroom in the parking lot. there's also trails leading off that are of a longer length if you wish to do more walking just be prepared for dogs and bikes.
In the middle of Lower Sackville, this provincial park provided a series of hiking and running trails for locals. Park at the Sackville Sports Stadium or in the First Lake arrive parking lot. Paths wonder along first and second lake. Dog, family and bike friendly
This is a nice gravel path around First Lake that's easy for all levels of walking ability. You often see people on bicycles, with strollers, dogs, etc. There are benches to sit on and spots to take pictures of the lake. One of my favourite walking trails that's close to where I live!
