Stayed at Malmaison for business in Newcastle. Very hip hotel. Nice large room w/ great river view of Millennium Bridge. Right next to walking/running path around river area.

The usual great decor and a lovely room at this Malmaison, however the service was certainly below par when compared with the other Malmaisons I've stayed in. Started with a really bad dinner in the Brasserie. My steak was overcooked and tough. Drinks order was so badly wrong that after the third attempt I had to go to the bar myself to get the barman to make it properly. I'm glad I didn't stay for more than a night

Room Tip: Choose a corner room with views of the river and bridge

Stayed at the Malmaison for 2 nights. Our room had an amazing view we were on the 5th floor with views overlooking the Millenium Bridge looked wonderful at night. The room was big, really cosy and warm. The only gripe I had was there was quite a bit of dust on the bedside table which looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a couple of days but the rest of the room was great. The hotel is in a great location. Local bars and restaurants nearby, the best fish restaurant is the "Big Mussell" the food was really nice and the entertainment weren't too bad either. Definitely one for the couples!!

Room Tip: Has to be overlooking the Millenium Bridge looks wonderful at night!

I stayed in the Malmaison for 4 nights while in Newcastle upon Tyne for business trip, and it was a - overall - pleasant stay.
The good points about the Malmaison:
- Location is awesome: close to all the town hot spots, restaurants, and the millennium bridge.
- Very comfortable rooms and bathrooms (showers are very relaxing!!)
- Internet connection is very good.
- Reception staff is friendly and very helpful

some areas that need improvement:
- No real variety of food for the in house dining.
- layout is a problem!! after using the elevator to get to the floor, 70% of the time I needed to pause for 30 seconds to get to my room.

The hotel decorations and furnishing are cozy and artistic, and it smells nice all the time...all in all, it is nice hotel, and I would definitely go back whenever I am in Newcastle.
-

Room Tip: Choose the rooms at the floor corners, they are spacious, with a couch and a coffee table!!

Stayed here for our Valentine's and had an amazing time. We upgraded to a suite over-looking the Millenium Bridge and it was a brilliant room with separate lounge and large bathroom. The spa treatments were really good too and dinner in the restaurant was nice and relaxed. Would definitely return for an normal stay. Highly recommend it.

Stayed in a suite on the top floor, couldnt have asked for more the room was lovely and felt very paris-esque. Location is fantastic overlooking the millenium bridge, stay here if you are going to the sage. Only down point was that the food at the restaurant was fine but not as fantastic as the rest of the hotel, very fancy but lacked flavour. Would stay here again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal. ... more   less
