“Fresh, modern, well-equipped house in convenient location”
Reviewed 9 July 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Property was clean, modern, very well-equipped and warm. All looked fresh and up-to-date.

Two of the three bedrooms overlook communal spaces (lounge & dining/kitchen areas) which could be tricky if sharing with work colleagues rather than family, but large top floor bedroom & en suite was superb. Other 2 bedrooms share a bathroom, with shower, on second floor.

Extremely comfortable bed, fresh modern bedding; kitchen had everything you'd want for a week's stay (except maybe a tumble dryer for when it pours down!)

Location was great -15 minutes walk into city centre over high level bridge, convenient for railway station and new Tesco Gateshead.

Would definitely stay there again.

“Great place to stay!”
Reviewed 7 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

We had the pleasure of a 5-night stay for 6 people in Kenilworth House over the Easter period. It's always daunting renting a property privately but Nigel and Michelle were really easy to deal with and I can't recommend the property highly enough. They even supplied basics to kickstart our stay with milk, tea, coffee and biscuits! The accommodation more than lived up to expectations and was well kitted-out although two of the bedrooms being of mezzanine style (over the living and dining room) could pose problems for certain groups from a privacy point of view but it really wasn't an issue for our group. A nice quiet area but basically at the foot of a bridge on the Gateshead side of the Tyne into Newcastle made walking into town very easy. All in all, a place we would use again if the need arose. Thanks Nige and Michelle for your efforts in making the trip a memorable one!

“Outstanding quality”
Reviewed 10 April 2013 for a stay in March 2013

recently went down to newcastle with 5 friends for the Biffy clyro concert and stayed here for a few nights ....

the apartment is finished to a perfect standard and everything is of the highest quality,

Nigel was really helpful from start to finish and made our stay as enjoyable as possible

there was the usual deposit for damages but this was returned very quickly,

The apartment is really good quality therefore you would expect to treat it very well.

All in all i would 100% recommend this apartment for groups/couple who like to stay in luxury accomidation and treat their accomidation very well.

we will definatly be using it again

ps - you get what you pay for and i would say the price is very resonable for the the quality you get.

“beautiful house, although not a place for messy girls or guys, very expensive”

the house is definitely a gorgeous place to stay, very modern with lovely colour schemes with a lot of thought put into the design of each room. went for a girls weekend, 6 girls in total, paying around £770 altogether for Friday-Monday. We were told after booking that there would be a damages deposit needing to be paid of £50 each, totalling to £300. This should have been told when we were booking but we were assured we would get it back if no damage was done to the house, which we felt comfortable with as we were sure that there wouldn't be any damage done as we are a sensible bunch. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. After we returned home we were told about stains on a cream carpet in two separate rooms. Black on the top floor's carpet, and pink on the bigger room on the middle floor's carpet. Nigel did try his best and wanted to give us our money back, the black mark came out fine but the pink mark didn't totally come out. It was left as very faint, pink dots, but due to the house being known for it's great condition, nigel wasn't happy with this, which is fair enough, but I certainly felt as though it wasn't necessary to take £300 for damage cost because of this. Nigel told us he got through to a carpet cleaning company, at our request, as we had priced it ourselves through a company through in newcastle over the phone, and head office gave him the technicians contact details, but he did not hear back from the technician after leaving a message. So, we tried ourselves to contact the same carpet cleaner company, who we got through to, and the technician for that area said he would charge £32.50 for an hours work and £15 for an hour past but they would know from the half hour if the stain would lift. This price was obviously much better than losing 300 between 6 of us so we arranged for the technician to go out to the house. Nigel told us the technician did not show, which is obviously not his fault and we were just let down by this company. It has to be said though, i do feel as though nigel did not try contacting any other carpet cleaning companies as he gave us the excuse of not knowing of any other carpet companies personally to recommend and obviously nothing has been done about the stain. Instead, he is willing to pay £352 for a new carpet, which is the same carpet as before, (you would think you'd want to invest in a carpet less likely to cause this hassle and one which is more practical, especially when renting out your house to various guests from a variety of places) but i guess not. this resulted in us losing our damage deposit. in total then, for 3 nights stay, nigel earned £1070 from us. Although the house was nice, it was definitely over priced. Warning for future girls, or even guys, do not spill anything on the carpets!!! also another thing to point out, one of the radiators in the house, in the living room, had started to burn a hole through the dial at the top. We ensured the heating was turned off after noticing this, making our stay very very cold, simply to avoid the risk of a fire being started. No radiator should be that hazardous in what is meant to be a luxury house. it was the Saturday evening we noticed it, after turning it on just that afternoon to heat up the living room. Being so cold in a house we paid £770 initially for was definitely not a luxury. Along with the occasional cold shower due to the "hot" water running out (which nigel said shouldnt be a problem) this was not ideal.
All in all, we did enjoy our stay here, it is a lovely looking house, just resent the fact that a faint pink stain is costing us £300. It's a great location and nigel was very helpful on the first day of arrival.

May I start by thanking you for the positive comments you have made re your stay however with regards to your other comments would you treat your own property and belongings like this? I think not!!!!
Some of your comments seem very strange! I have copies of lovely text and email from you during and after your stay saying what a fantastic stay you all had, the property was stunning and would definitely recommend and wish to stay again. Also would definitely be putting a great review on trip advisor!!! The problem with the damaged is of your groups own doing & due to this seems to have affected your comments! I wish you had not caused the situation but you can only hold yourselves responsible for your deposit and not me. Would your comments be the same if we had returned your deposit I think not! .I wasn’t aware you had considered the situation closed as I have been waiting for a reply to an email sent.
An inspection was carried out of the property. You had left us numerous reminders of your stay. Large black make up stains on the carpet, in the top bathroom red pink dye stains all over the tiles grout and bathroom suit, a fluid stained lamp shade, a number of pink red stains (possibly nail varnish dye or other type of makeup product) on another carpet. Along with splatters of false tan all over the bedroom wall and not to mention the bedding and towels that looked as though you had used these to apply false tan along with the occasional nail varnish and make up marking on the bedding and towels. We forwarded you pictures of the main damage and you responded that you were so sorry and very apologetic. We informed you that we would need to resolve all the issues before your deposit would be returned. I continued to carry out regular update to the situation even responding to all your numerous emails I think 5-6 at least in one day.
You are quite correct we do only wish for guest to stay that will respect and look after our property. Your comments regards to T&C's it quite clearly states on our advert that T&C's apply. If you wanted a copy before making your booking you only needed to request we would have been happy to forward these. Regards to your deposit you did not have the correct amount upon your arrival and only had £290 not the correct amount. We give two options, 1 to pay by bax before your arrival or cash when you arrive. I informed you not to worry and that would be acceptable as we would expect to return in full as long as the property was returned as you found it. Little did I know what was to follow after you checked out.
The decorator had to paint the walls 3 times to cover the stain, the laundry needed additional cleans and numerous stain removals, cleaning the bathroom area took our cleaner hours. We cleaned the stained carpets on 4 separate occasions and unfortunately the pink stain could not be removed. I called a carpet specialist that carried out an inspection of the damaged carpet and informed me that it would need to be replaced as we couldn’t cut the damage section out and patched it!! We even mentioned we could look into claiming through our insurance. It was then that you sent me a carpet cleaning company that you requested could we use and again I advised what the specialist said but said that would be fine after I had contacted the technician and left message on his voice mail 3-4 time with no response again I informed you and you said you would arrange and emailed text me informing me he would be at the property around 9,30 our cleaner was there from 9,30 until 2,30 and nobody showed up again I informed you of this and sent several messages asking what you wished to do and have yet to hear back from you until your review through trip advisor.
You advised we earned £1070 from you which is incorrect you paid £770 for a three night stay and the damage deposit is to return the property as it was before your arrival and your careless thoughtless action which no way covers the costs of the damage caused
I contacted you several times during your stay but you advised your phone had been damaged so could reply but when you did reply you said having a great stay, at no time did you mention a problem with the heating or water so surprised you are only now bringing this to our attention. Regards to the heating if this had stopped working mechanical faults do occur from time to time and given the opportunity we would have remedied this.

“Amazing!!”
Reviewed 27 February 2013 for a stay in February 2013

Stayed at Kenilworth House with a group of friends for 2 nights in Feb 2013. We had the most amazing time and cannot fault this apartment in any way. Nigel and Michelle are the nicest people and were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, great communication throughout and answered all our questions and queries making the booking process so easy. The apartment is absolutely stunning!! Decorated so beautifully and has everything you could ask for, very modern and plenty of space. It is in a really lovely area and is within easy reach of everything. We never needed a taxi once and we were all over, Tesco, shopping centre, train station and Metro Arena all within a 10-15 minute walk. There is also a chinese takeaway, pizza place and taxi office just round the corner if needed. Cannot recommend this apartment enough! We are already planning our next visit to Newcastle and will definately be staying at Kenilworth House.
