“Very Good Hotel in excellent location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

We have just stayed 2 nights in this hotel over the easter weekend, the location cannot be beaten as it is located on the edge of the River Avon and just a 5 minute walk from the town centre and RSC Theatre. Car Parking in Stratford Upon Avon can be a big problem, and expensive, but this hotel has a large car park charged at an acceptable £5 per night. We had an Executive Room (number 1099) with a view to the front of the hotel looking towards the RSC Theatre, the room had a very comfortable king bed, but the bathroom was a little small and the climate control system was somewhat noisy when switched on, however for 2 nights it was fine. We didn't use the pool and health club area but friends of ours said it was ok but in need of a refurb. The Breakfast was excellent, very good choices of cereals and hot and cold selections, we have stayed at Hilton Hotels in the past and the breakfast at this Holiday Inn was as good as, if not better, than some of the Hiltons we have stayed in. All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and extremely helpful, especially the restaurant breakfast staff and Duty Managers Mark and Julie. We would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: Executive rooms with a view to the front of the hotel towards the RSC Theatre are definitely the bes...

My boyfriend and I stayed for several nights in January 2012 and it was lovely. Although we had been to Stratford Upon Avon before, we had never stayed in the Holiday Inn. The hotel was clean, tidy, the staff were helpful and we checked in without any problems. The room was spacious and well furnished and there was nothing to complain about; we even received some complimentary snacks.
The use of the gym and swimming pool at no extra charge was a nice perk and a dip in the pool in the evening was a good way to wind down at the end of the day. There were no disturbances during the night from things such as traffic outside or rowdy guests inside which ensured that we always had a good night's sleep. The hotel itself is in an excellent location and is just a short walk from the theatre and town centre. There were no problems when checking out, we had a pleasant stay, a lovely trip and would stay in this Holiday Inn again.

Just back from a 2 night stay. Had a good comfortable and spacious room with a good view towards the theatre. The breakfast was however dissapointing and products stated were not available. Selection of cheeses on first day was wrapped "laughing cow" and on second day "baby bell" was added. Hardly a selection and with minimal cold meats, no rolls or pancakes did not come up to standard.

Looked at the evening menu and choice was very poor. I asked to see menu and was directed to sheet behind glass. When I pointed this out on check-out I was advised that there was a carvery but had not been earlier advised. Plenty of restaurants short walk away.

It was evident that at check-in I had not been well advised of all hotel had to offer.

Room Tip: Third floor with view towards river.

Booked and prepaid for this room through Expedia. We were asked to pay again when checking in, which i did as we were told the payment had not gone through. After checking with Expedia they confirmed that payment had been taken twice. Took several hours to sort this out and many phone calls as we appeared to be dealing with "computer says no" attitude. We had also booked a king room on top floor which did not materialise, when this was pointed out the management rep said that they would speak to the member of staff and reprimand them for offering this service, which was not the response i expected. They begrudgingly offered us free breakfast for the 1st morning of our stay.
The hotel is in a fantasic location very near town centre.

booked a room direct with holiday inn via the phone, was upsold to an excecutive room, with a river veiw. on arival i found my room had a veiw of the reception and car park, when i tried to ring reception the phone didnt work, so i went to asked about this i was told none of the excecutive rooms had a river veiw ? i then returned to my room to find the television did not work, i tried the phone again, that didnt work. i the rang reception on my mobile phone and was told all the tv's and radio's were down ? they did send someone up with a replacement telephone.,
so the whole experience was disappointing and the so called upgrade a waist off money. the first and last time i will stay in a holiday inn.

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times over as many years. It is located in an excellent position for those wishing to park their car and leave it there for the remainder of their stay. The hotel is located a short walk from the main shops. The rooms are clean and well equipped and the breakfast very nice. I would return to this hotel again.
