whilst the food that we didn't send back was very nice, there is little good to say about the service we received this evening at this establishment. the initial drinks order was taken quickly (including a request for a taste of a specific wine, which did arrive quite quickly (however it wasn't the wine i had asked for!)); however this was the last time we witnessed any timeliness in service. after waiting for about 20 minutes, we asked if our drinks were coming this evening, and one of the two drinks we had ordered finally arrived some time later. the person that served this one drink (out of two ordered) informed us that they had no data concerning the other drink ordered, so we ordered it yet again. at the same time we informed the waitress that we didn't eat pork, and asked that she let us know if anything on the menu wouldn't be suitable. she mentioned one thing on the menu that had bacon in it, so clearly understood our request. i then went on to order a burger without bacon (as the description mentioned that it came with bacon). when the food arrived, the burger contained bacon. sometime later, the waitress came by and asked if everything was ok, to which i pointed out that i would like the burger taken away as i had ordered it without bacon. she asked if i wanted something else instead and i said that i had rather lost my appetite. after being ignored for the next half hour or so, i finally got a waiter's attention and managed to get an order in for another glass of wine. i asked for a large glass, but received a small one. not too surprising, given the "service" we'd received thus far throughout the evening, and so decided no point in mentioning this as just wanted to get out of there by this stage. asked for the bill, and after waiting for a not inconsiderable time, finally decided to get up and walk over to the waitress who was engaged in a chat with a colleague, and seemingly in no hurry. asked if the "service" charge was discretionary, and that it be removed if not.

Dined on a Saturday night with friends who had recommended it. Modern décor. Staff were very attentive, and happy to check with chef when they were not sure of a dish. The starters were very good. My husband said the mussels were the best he had eaten! I was disappointed with my mains. The chicken was dry and sat on spinach with two hard "golf balls" of potato I think. Dessert was good. A strawberry bavarois which I could have eaten again-delicious. I will be happy to dine here again, just not have the chicken!

Called off here at lunch with a colleague for a catch up over a glass of wine and a sandwich. Ordered tuna on granary. Received a stale sliced brown bread effort that wasn't even to the standard of a supermarket pre-packed effort.
Sent it back, the waiter was full of apologies but it's no wonder we were the only ones in there.
Surroundings are great and I'm sure if you order a full meal it's a far greater experience but if all you want is a quick lunchtime drink and a sandwich, find somewhere else.
