Arrived at hotel, book in not until 3pm, we were early but could use all facilities, staff very friendly, room very comfortable, complimentary newspaper, safe, hairdryer, iron and board, air con very good, no noise, breakfast was very nice, full English or continental. We ate dinner in the restuarant which was very nice, would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely visit again

From initially enquiring about the wedding packages the hotel could offer right through to the wedding day itself we couldn't fault the venue or its staff in any way, shape or form. There was never an issue too big or too small for them to help us out with and we weren't pushed once to buy something or add something additional to our package. The whole thing really was suited to our needs and helped make it a perfect day for us, with no stress at all in planning it.

With the hotel being spending a lot of money recently on refurbishing the place it looks as pristine as you can imagine and the rooms they can use for the different parts of the wedding are functional and more than spacious enough.

Lastly, we want to specifically mention two members of staff who were absolutely exceptional and added to the whole experience for us (even though all staff were excellent). Harriet and Adreanna were always happy to see us/hear from us and always answered any queries really calmly and in quick time. They were both always really bubbly and ridiculously organised! They deserve the extra praise and I would recommend anyone to have their wedding here!

We recently stayed for 1 night for my mums 70th Birthday. We booked direct through the Crowne Plaza website on a dinner, bed and breakfast offer. Our confirmation stated 3 course dinner or buffet in a designated hotel restaurant.

On Check in there was some confusion as although we handed our confirmation over with the prices on, the receptionist tried to charge us almost double per room per night. We brought this to her attention immediately and this was rectified. We were given our keys and that was it - no information where the restaurant or pool was etc. We had to ask for this ourselves.

The room itself good. 2 double beds, towels, flat screen tv, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities etc etc. Shame there were used pots outside the room which after 4 hours we mentioned to the front desk to be removed.

We went down to dinner and were served efficiently with water and menus. We were then told that if we wanted the 3 course meal as part of our room deal we had to select the 3 items from the menu with the S next to it. Alternatively we had up to £25.00 per adult to select off the menu. I've never heard of this before. Booking for dinner we expected to be able to choose from a menu and not have to have specific meals. Kids ate free off the kids meal which was good, although the kids pasta was too spicy and we had to send it back. 1 child then didn't want to wait and started eating her sisters food. The waiter was very good though and offered to replace the meals for anything the children wanted. The belly pork was very small for the price we paid and when we mentioned to the waitress she seemed very uninterested. The bakewell tart was also very small.

The hotel leisure facilities were ok, the pool was cold though. But there were towels for the hotel residents and although communal changing rooms there were lockers.

Breakfast was good and pretty much re-stocked.

On check out one of our party was charged more than what they should of been so that had to be sorted.

The following night at dinner, the service was poor. We had to ask for water and cutlery. The main courses came and we'd almost eaten it before I had to chase up my potatoes which you have to order on top of your main course. When we complained to the reception, they told us that we had only waited a couple of minutes for the potatoes and that we received the same service as the night before. So much for the customer is always right.

I am very disappointed with the hotel as we had booked for a special occasion. We have had better service etc from cheaper hotels at less than half the price of what we paid.

The staff didn't seem interested in our comments. We certainly wont be visiting again and will be wary with the chain of hotels now.

Stayed here quite a few times before, the last time, about 18 months ago wasn't good due to bad service. However, we decided to give it another go as it supposed to have been fully refurbished.

The room was lovely, spacious and decorated superbly. However that's where the good part of the review ends.

The restaurant was not separate to the bar area. Therefore we decided not to bother eating in the restaurant as the bar was busy and rowdy and as a couple, we didn't want this. It really ought to be separated.

We went in to use the spa facilities as that is why we booked to go to this hotel. What a disappointment. The jacuzzi was not working. The steam room was disgustingly filthy, the sauna had a broken wooden lat and the steps into the swimming pool were a liability as the railing fastenings were both cracked and had been since our last visit 18 months ago!! When we asked the spa receptionist when the jacuzzi woud be working again, she said the next day - I said that's no good as we were only there for one night!

You would think that a hotel would have their facilities 100% working for the weekend guests, including the Friday as this is their most busy time!!
