Came on Monday night, bar staff were initially friendly but the margaritas they made were TERRIBLE. We complained as they tasted only of lime juice - really, really bad. The bar staff tried the drink and claimed it was totally fine, but as a previous bar manager myself.... and regular drinker of margaritas, I am well aware of how a margarita should taste! Staff were new and seemed to have too much ego to correct their obvious mistake - the bar tender was clearly not sure as he had taken the bottle of alcohol to top it up but still maintained it was a 'perfect' margarita... then when sat down, he anxious discussed it with his fellow barman for a long time. We paid £7 quid each for those drinks, and it was a total waste of money - we won't be going back ever, there's PLENTY of other decent places to drink in Leeds.

Booked by my son and daughter-in-law as a treat for both sets of in-laws and favourite uncle. Great atmosphere and décor, all in all we were all impressed with food etc., just a pity one dish ordered by 2 of party was "sold out" and would take an "hour" to replace, and when one alternative - Lamb with homemade mint sauce was delivered, the recipient was informed there was no fresh mint!, and the lamb was very undercooked, so a shame really. Having said that the Manager when asked for came over and apologised and said that dish would be deducted off the bill, so that was acceptable, just spoilt one persons experience, which was a pity. Will visit again though.

Called in for a few afternoon drinks. It's a quirky little bar with a lot of character and great staff. There was a piano player/singer for entertainment and the atmosphere was buzzing. We could have stayed all day.

Thank H F

I’ve been to The Botanist before a couple of years ago and loved it so was quite upset when I brought a friend for a meal and found the food to be rubbish.
We were greeted by a friendly waitress who was attentive and knowledgeable. We were left to mull over the menu and informed of the things that had sold out. The ambiance was great and there was an excellent singer on in the bar.
We eventually chose our cocktails and opted for the hanging kebabs as these seemed to be really popular with other diners. I chose a chicken kebab whilst my friend chose a lamb kofta. We also ordered a tomato side salad.
The food came out extremely quickly and the meat (what there was of it) was dry and tough. We seemed to have a huge pile of fries on our extremely small plates and not enough kebab. When we asked for olive oil to drizzle on the salad we were brought a selection of sauces from the kitchen and some cooking oil!!! The waitress said they don’t have olive oil as they don’t use it! An eatery with no olive oil??? The salad (albeit tiny) was the best thing about the meal.
This was a special night away after having major surgery and I just wish we’d booked somewhere different. We definitely won’t be back.

The Botanist is a lovely place- quirky, clean, really popular. Have been a few times for cocktails but never to eat. As it was my husbands birthday I thought we would try it so I booked. Table ready- service great but the food....
Not quite as described. Creamy garlic mushrooms- where was the cream? Not as expected.
I loved the olives and for a main course ordered 4 dishes from the "deli board" . One had sold out so ordered an alternative but not really impressed. The salt beef and gherkins were lovely though.
The service was absolutely excellent and the wine we ordered was gorgeous ( Malbec)
Enjoyed the piano guy.
