This is a small but interesting museum that tells a good story about the area and it's neolithic inhabitants and doesn't try to be more than it is. As part of a visit to the entire complex of Avebury it fulfills its role well.

Keiller's work was not without controversy, but I thank him every time I go to Averbury. I'd not visited the museum before but had only read of his work. You need to place to give some context to what you see outside. My only grip is that I'd like even more about him and his motives!

Welcoming and knowledgeable staff and likeable displays. Lighting could be better - trendy, but not fully able to see writing!

If you want to know more about the stones and their history, their discovery and preservation then it's worth visiting the museum. It's small but with lots of artefacts and good info.
