“Short stay in Maidenhead”
Reviewed 15 May 2012

We got the hotel during a promotion in February and booked in for 2 nights to visit our son. The hotel was excellent (compared to many I have been in!). The reception staff were polite and clear as were all the staff we encountered. The hotel was clean and although there was a some decorative work that was needed in the assigned room it was minimal and the room was clean and quiet. The gym and swimming facilities were excellent. Breakfast was busy but the staff were quick to get you a table and clear the dishes. The bar prices were good compared to "normal" London pricing and the service good but could have been excellent if they had a bit more humour. Overall though, excellent and will return.

Good part of this hotel. We had a nice room. very clean well maintained.
Staff at the Hotel were very helpful and accomodating.Good playroom for children.
Bad part ,restaurant was like a canteen. ok for breakfast( breakfast, as so often at Holiday Inns, mountains of dried up bacon covered in white slime, going cold sausages just warm, they seem to want to cook it all in the early hours and keep it warm, nothing fresh) Dining room dreadful for dinner. No table cloths, nothing nice about it, that was bad enough but the food was awful. It is another Holiday Inn that charges restaurant prices but produces the equivalent of bad pub food. Pre-cooked, delivered by van I assume, overcooked, boring, tasteless. Weekend menu is shocking. Little choice if you are Dinner B.B. They do not seem to have a Chef but more a cook who heats things up. Quality and atmoshphere were shocking. White wine not drinkable as it was not cold.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to write a review of the hotel. I was very disappointed to read of your experiences in the hotel restaurant and would offer my apologies for the obvious disappointment caused. Our restaurant is a modern brasserie style restaurant designed we hope to fit in with the rest of the hotel's decor, I am sorry with was not to your taste.
With regard to the food on offer for dinner again it would appear the menu style was not to your liking or expectations. From your review clearly on the occassion of your visit, the quality of your meal was not up to our usual standard for which I can only apologise. Your comments have been shared with our restaurant and kitchen teams so they can be aware of the importance in consistency of food quality.
I was however pleased to read that you found the hotel clean and well maintained and the hotel staff helpful. I can only hope that your restaurant exepriences do not deter you too much from returning to us here in Maidenhead in the future.
Thank you again for your feedback and comments.
Yours sinecerly

My husband, myself and 2 sons (aged 8) stayed here as a base for Legoland. Absolutely brilliant hotel. Room was lovely (huge double bed and 2 singles). Hotel is very child-friendly with swimming pool, playroom, welcome kiddies pack and milk and cookies free in the early evenings. Kids eat free for evening meal and brekkie free for everyone. Food was really good. Staff were very helpful. Will definitely use this hotel again if we need to be in the area.

Well furbished hotel with a bar large lounge you can relax in after a long day at work. Good sized executive rooms with ironing board, refrigerator and updated amenities.

Breakfast is good, I never made it to the actual restaurant for dinner as I chose or order and eat in the lounge, but the food was quite good.

Parking was free, internet ws not. Can someone explain to me why internet is free at Holiday Inn Express, but not free at a Holiday Inn for twice as much per night? But anyway, this hotel particularly appealed to travelers with children. The lobby actually had a set with milk and cookies for children and a decently sized play area. I cannot say this is something I have seen before, but I can see the attraction if your children are travelling with you.

All still a good hotel eventhough some were playing in the hallway. But I cannot blame the hotel, just some deaf parents.

Room Tip: Get an executive room

Well what a surprise! First impressions are not great but the room was modern and comfortable. The breakfast was a huge improvement on the similar priced Ibis. The staff were bright, cheerful and helpful when asked for pub, dining and directions. The breakfast provided a wide choice and the quality of everything was well above expectations. Especially the fruit juice, bacon, sausage and prepared fresh fruit. The lounge area was large and spacious with waiter service and even the large number of excited children (weddings, legoland, Windsor and airports) did not upset our enjoyment. Well done Holiday Inn.

I recently stayed here for a business trip. I would consider this hotel to be very convenient for both business travelers and tourists. The hotel is quiet and comfortable. The rooms are clean and convenient. Some lights were not working and we pushed to get an upgrade and free wifi. Breakfast is standard and enjoyable in pleasant surroundings, staff are helpful. Easy to get taxi and transport to this site. Overall a very good stay.
