Description: We have a heartache to have to say that the Ffarmers suffered a severe fire on Saturday, January 27th. No one was hurt, thank you, but the damage to the building was very serious. We have now started replacing this beautiful pub. The work will take many months, but we will be back in the Autumn, better than ever.

We’ve been to Y Ffarmers twice before when in the Aberystwyth area and went again this week. We haven’t been for a couple of years and the pub now has a new owner but is still a place we will go to whenever we can. I originally found the pub through great reviews on Trip Advisor and the reviews are not wrong.

Do believe all the reviews! Y Ffarmers is fantastic. The pub is in a small village about 15 mins outside of Aberystwyth. Very rural but cars parked in the village square encouraged us.

Lights were on and we could see darts being played, which caused a little hesitance.

Walking through the front door it looks like you should open the door to the right. We did and this was where the local dart playing farmers were. A very friendly “other door” met us in chorus.

We opened the other door and were met with a full, classic yet contemporary restaurent.

The ladies were attentive, the atmosphere perfect, the “Butty Batch” tasty if you like ale, and the Welsh Burgers ( parent and student meal) were among the best ever tasted.

They offer vegetarian options too and the food presentation is very much like Masterchef. Excellent and thank you!

Do see for yourself, we will be back.

Y Ffarmers is very much off the beaten track but is worth negotiating the narrow lanes to find. They kindly fitted us in on a busy Saturday night (having just dropped our daughter off at Uni) and we were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. We chose the steak which was deliciously tender and cooked to perfection. We finished with a cheeseboard which was very generous (we shared one together with a dessert - highly recommended!) When we next come back to Aberystwyth we will certainly be back here - and will be treating our daughter to a steak!

Given that this valley has been occupied since the Neolithic this is a very old location, and going there for a lovely meal in this restaurant does not disappoint. Unfortunately by the time we got to the village the church had been shut for the evening, and there were six rams established in the church to keep the grass down. We got to the restaurant early because they had a large group coming in at 6pm, and particularly enjoyed the selection of local drinks, I had an elderberry flavoured gin and tonic, and then we settled down with the menu. Very good vegetarian choices. Would particularly recommend the lemon posset dessert. Beautifully cooked and served main courses.
