Loved staying here as a family of four. We have two children aged 3 and 5yrs and they loved the bunk beds. It is very handy location for visiting the castle and there is a great family inn around the corner called "The Black Boy inn". There is a playground just across the pedestrian road from the Inn.
The B and B was very clean and comfortable and quiet. Our room had a new ensuite and the furniture was really well kept. Beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was great, heaps of options and the Easter eggs on Sunday morning were a delightful extra.
Mark and Karen are very helpful and we just loved their dog Tilly, although they are careful to keep her out of the way if you do not like dogs.
I strongly recommend going to Caernarfon and staying at Caer Menai, especially if you have children.

An excellent value B&B within the walls of the old city. Mark and Karen were excellent hosts advising on walks, restaurants to try and places to visit. Breakfast was superb with a range of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts and a choice of hot food. We stayed for 3 nights and sampled the full cooked breakfast which was beautifully cooked with excellent quality ingredients, and also the smoked haddock and poached egg which was lovely. The rooms are not huge but are nicely presented and have lovely touches such as nice toiletries, an extensive tea & coffee tray and large fluffy towels. We would thoroughly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: Room 7 had a lovely view

Well placed within the old city walls and access to Anglesey, rooms recently done up, with lovely bathrooms and close proximity to pubs and restaurants.

This B&B was excellent value, very well located in the heart of Caernarfon (very short walk to the Castle), extremely clean & nicely appointed. Our hosts made every effort to ensure we were comfortable & had all we needed. The attention & service Mark & Karen provided was amongst the best, if not the best, we came across in our recent travels through England & Wales staying at many B&B's along the way. The homely & comfortable lounge provided a good area to relax, while the breakfast was both generous in quanity, choice and quality.

I wanted to take my other half away for his birthday for a couple of nights early December and couldn't decide where to go. I've been bitten in the past with trying new places for special occasions only to be disappointed with one aspect or another, so I opted for Caer Menai again. The reason for this decision? genuine, friendly hosts, rooms so comfy you don't want to leave, more breakfast than you can eat, oh, and the guest house is just off-centre to the town square. This was our 3rd visit and it was even better than last time. We had more choice on the breakfast menu, the whole place was being trimmed for Christmas and looked really cosy, the room we stayed in had had it's furniture replaced (even though I didn't think it needed it, but it now has natural wood instead of painted wood), Karen's shortcake biscuits were as scrummy as ever and Tilly (the soppy, wet-nosed resident) was as cute as always. Thanks to Karen, Mark and Tilly our 2 night break was a lovely affair - even if it did fly past. I'd recommend this little gem to anyone wanting to base themselves in North Wales - whether you want some time to explore the area or just to chill and recharge their batteries. Happy Christmas x

Room Tip: room 7 has a lovely view of the water and an amazingly comfy bed

I stayed at Caer Menai five years ago under the previous owners, but the welcome was particularly warm this time. I enjoyed the very quiet situation and being within the atmospheric walled city. It was easy to walk to restaurants, although there is a restricted choice on a winter Sunday evening. The room was comfortable: a little tight for space when I was working in the evening, and it wasn't possible to fit in an easy chair, but there is a very comfortable guest lounge, where I was pleased to have wi-fi access. It was outstanding value for money. I'll certainly go back next time I'm working in Caernarfon.
