Abbey End is a lovely cottage, we were sorry to leave after spending a week there. The cottage and garden are lovely, and to sit in the sun beside the stream in the garden is very restful.Rob and Brian the owners, with the help of Freddy the dog, go out of their way to make you welcome.Llanrwst is a couple of miles away, with lovely riverside walks, shops and plenty of places to eat.Nextdoor to the cottage is Maenan Abbey Hotel, with good food and friendly staff. We will be returning and hope for better weather next time.
We had a great two nights stay here. We live relatively locally but decided we’d have a few nights away. We’re a family of five including two small children.
Brian and Rob were great hosts - very responsive, dealing with queries promptly and meeting us at the property on arrival to show us around.
The cottage is located a few miles away from Llanwrst. There are a few eating places and supermarkets there, otherwise a couple of decent hotels closer by which serve decent meals. Betwys-y-coed isn’t too far away either.
I have to say that the inside of the property is much nicer than the photos (you need to update them!). It’s a beautiful cottage with two bedrooms and bathroom on each floor, such that you don’t feel on top of each other. The living room is stunning and very spacious. The whole house is very tastefully decorated. We loved the wood burner, which gives the house such a cosy feel on very cold winter days/nights. We also enjoyed the games and books there, and there are also a selection of dvds on offer.
My only two minor niggles:
1. The downstairs shower is beautiful and large but the shower itself was a bit disappointing in terms of power and it was very difficult to control the temperature.
2. Given the service and property is very high spec, it would have been good to have a few essential food items to welcome guests (eg milk, bread, welsh cakes!), esp for those visitors living further afield.
These are only a few small suggestions. The top rating is absolutely justified and I would definitely recommend.
Booked Abbey End for a family celebration after reading excellent reviews. We were a party of seven adults, one baby and two dogs. Booking and communication was excellent. The house layout is perfect as there were two bedrooms downstairs sleeping five people and a bathroom. Upstairs were two further bedrooms sleeping four with another bathroom. This gave excellent privacy if required and not feeling like you were on top of each other. The kitchen had everything you could want and was lovely and spacious. Lounge had a great real fire, something which I thoroughly enjoyed sitting next to in the evening with a glass of wine relaxing. There are numerous books, games, dvds if staying in of an evening. The garden is beautiful even in November, the dogs enjoyed the stream that runs through it. We enjoyed watching the birds feeding from the trees. Loved the decor and the beds were lovely and comfy, great duvets and towels. Much thought has gone into making this a great comfy place to stay. The owners were lovely and friendly, we got a tour explaining the heating etc. then left in peace but were contactable if any questions. Would definitely recommend this property and would love to return in spring/summer when we would sit in the great garden bird watching and star gazing.
Lovely house perfect for our group of friends. Brian and Rob certainly have created a home from home with everything you could possibly need.
The house is in a pretty location with a stream in the garden and right on the edge of Snowdonia making it the ideal location for our weekend of adventures.
The only small thing that we could find that would have made life easier would have been a bigger cooker, with 8 of us in the house the cooker was a bit of a squeeze but it was nothing you couldn't get around with a little planning.
We will definitely be going back again, thanks for a fab weekend.
We spent a week at Abbey End and it was amazing. Such a comfortable place delightfully decorated with loads of room four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Great kitchen with everything you could want. The location is ideal for Conway, Llandudno, Isle of Anglesey and Betwsy Coed is just 4 miles away. Llanwrst has several hotels which serve great food and there are two grocery stores, fish & chip shop and Chinese takeaway very close. Brian and Rob were very gracious and provided us with a wealth of information that was really helpful. We had an amazing week at Abbey End and hope to return again to this idyllic place. An amazing property which was way beyond our expectations. Loved it,
Cannot thank Rob and Brian enough. The house was everything we could have wished for and more. Every room was to a fantastic standard which made our stay feel more like a home rather than just a rental. Both hosts were on hand with any questions and made us feel very welcome so cannot rate Abbey End highly enough. xxx
