“Excellent touring base ”
Reviewed 12 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

A fabulous warm Welsh welcome on arrival at Winnies Hayloft before being shown into our comfortable and well appointed cottage for the week. Spotlessly clean throughout, comfy bed and light airy lounge with great views from the 2 large velux windows across the stunning valleys. Plenty of hot water and good shower pressure, along with all the usual mod cons we expext nowadays and the delightful added bonus of a few fresh groceries including Bridgets delicious home made jam.
Parking is conveniently located just over the road.
Great food is served at the pub across the road.
This was a really great spot for touring the local area and we would definitely recommend it to others.
Thank you Bridget for looking after us so well.

“Just about perfect”

As soon as we entered the cottage, the first thing we saw was a vase of red roses to welcome us..... what a lovely touch. After seeing that, and the fresh loaf of bread and butter on the table left for us we knew the rest was going to be good.

The kitchen had a fridge and separate freezer, washing machine, microwave, cooker, etc. There was no dryer, but nice big clothes racks were provided and the owner, Bridget, said she would put our gear through her dryer if needed.

We chose this place as it's located right in the Brecon Beacons walking areas and some walks literally started from the front door. The bookshelf was filled with local information, Ordnance Survey map (very useful!), and a collection of videos and novels.

The sitting room is upstairs and is beautifully light and airy with two big attic type windows to open up. The bathroom was great - good water pressure in the shower, good light and a good steam extractor. The bed was very comfortable.

A lot of thought has been put in to making this a great little place to stay. It was all very clean, and even had little extras like a bike tyre repair kit under the kitchen sink.

The New Inn pub is right across the road - the owner, Neil, was very friendly (and if you like a bitter ale, try the Double Dragon!). We didn't eat there because we didn't need to, but the food coming out from the kitchen looked pretty good. There is also a little shop/Post Office in easy walking distance if you run out of basics.

Negatives - its location right on the road. We were out and about during the day so traffic noise wasn't an issue. At night the volume of traffic is considerably less, but if you're not used to it and need to have a window open at night, you will probably be disturbed a bit by it. (With the double-glazed windows closed it was much quieter.) Note that car parking is not actually at the property, but just across the road, but that didn't bother us. There is room to pull in on the pavement to unload/load the car. The wi-fi had a very weak signal, but we found the kitchen table was the best place to be!

Overall, this is a great little place to stay.

“A home away from home”
Reviewed 20 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My wife and I stayed at Winnies Hayloft for a week during July 2015. The accommodation is as described and the kitchen and bathroom are particularly well thought out. This is a very good value for money holiday rental and the only reason we have rated it 4 rather than 5 is because it is actually on the A40. We knew this before we booked and the noise from the road was really not too bad.

That is the ONLY downside. The property itself is lovely and the location of Blwch is really spot on for exploring the area with ALL the main walks a maximum 45 minute drive away. There is a pub and a local shop in the village itself and in the nearby village of Llangynidr is the Coach and Horses pub ( drop down from Blwch, over an amazingly narrow bridge, then turn immediately right and drive a mile or so) which does very decent food (make a reservation as it is popular). The Red Indigo Indian restaurant in Crickhowell is also very good.

We had a really lovely week exploring the area and we wholeheartedly recommend 'Winnies' as your base camp! Happy holidays.

“Bijou but perfectly formed”

What a find. This perfect little cottage ouse charm. It sleeps two and excepts dogs. It is very small with a kitchen/dinning room on the ground floor and a living room and bathroom (consisting of shower, sink and toilet) on the second floor and a small step up to the lovely double bedroom. There is parking close by in a gated area just for you.

The only downside was the dog was not allowed upstairs which is fine but thats where the living room is. I totally understand no one wants a dog jumping all over there furniture, not that we allow this at home either, but you have to set a rule for everyone. So we found ourselves spending the evenings downstairs at the small round kitchen table sitting on hard wooden chairs just so the dog was not alone. I know soppy dog owners!

There is a pub just a few doors down that does food and apparently take away pizza, can't comment as we did not go there. There is also a small corner shop which does your basics. Brecon is not far so this is where we headed for most of our needs.

There is free Wi-fi which was a big bonus.

Would I stay here again, a definite YES but not with the dog.
