Stayed for a couple of nights at the Future Inn Cardiff Bay, just to chill out down the bay for a couple of days. Have stayed at this hotel quite a few times in the last couple of years and enjoyed the experience, but on this occasion, the stay was a little disappointing.

Positives:
Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast is decent quality and plentiful. Free WiFi is good enough to run an Amazon FireStick on the room TV. Lots of parking. 10 mins walk from bay.

Negatives:
1) The thinnest, softest bed pillows ever. Tried contacting reception about this using the room phone. No answer. Asked for extra pillows at reception. None delivered. At second time of asking, was abruptly told there were no extra at all in the whole hotel!
2) Two lifts service the hotel. Last few stays, one of the lifts has been out of order as was again this stay. On this stay, the second lift broke down too - the call button on the ground floor wasn't working. You had to walk up to the first floor, call the lift and go from there! Utterly ridiculous.
3) Room felt a little tired - grouting needs refresh in bathroom, some stains on the carpet, peeling wallpaper, etc. Nothing too dirty or major, just a little disappointing.
4) Limited loo roll.

I really enjoyed my stay here. There is a lot to like - good breakfast, comfortable bed, well appointed spacious room, wide corridors, decent shower. There were also some nice touches such as soft robe, complimentary chocolates, free water bottles. Also, free parking which is unusual in city centres and often a hidden extra. The staff were universally friendly.
Location wise it’s not perfect, but a taxi gets you into the city centre for £7.
I would definitely stay again.

Room was very spacious, well appointed clean and mostly comfortable - the air-conditioning simply made noise and did not provide any cool air. Only one lift - for such a hotel this was a bit of a shocker. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast room was spacious, clean and pleasant. Breakfast was decent but as is often the case the food (buffet) could have been hotter. A little disappointed with the selection of bread: basic sliced brown or basic sliced white only.
