Welsh Welcome
Reviewed 25 April 2016

We stayed in the Bakehouse for a long weekend with the dogs (the Bakehouse is dog friendly). Christine greeted us on arrival with some delicious coffee and walnut cake and some sherry and gave us a few pointers but left us to settle in.
The cottage is small but just right for a couple, very tastefully furnished and with a nice two seater sofa in front of the oil stove. It was completely quiet, the only noise was the occasional sound of Christine and Tony chatting to neighbours as they stopped by on the way down the path to the beach - the beach itself was probably a 10 minute walk, the walk to the sea considerably longer when the tide is out.
We popped into the community shop, which was great, and had dinner at the local pub, the Brittania, which is about a 15 minute walk. Good pub grub, the pub is clearly a village hub and lively both nights we were there (we dropped in for a quick pint one night).
The location is fantastic if you want to get away from it all, you can't really be nearer the path to the beach. Great hosts, a comfortable bed to sleep on, a warm fire, a lovely little garden in the sunshine... We hope to make this a regular weekend away.
Christine sent us on our way with some plants from her garden, so we'll have a piece of the Gower in our garden.

Room Tip: No pool anymore (there is a hot tub although we didn't use it).

Everything everyone else has said about this wonderful Welsh sanctuary is true! From the moment we were warmly greeted by Tony and Christine we began to relax. The Swallow's Rest was perfect, everything we needed had been thought of. We loved wandering about in the beautiful gardens, having breakfast with a view of the sea, spending time in the garden room reading, walking down through the nature reserve to the sea. It was all magical. Cwm Ivy is walking distance from a superb pub for meals and a truly unique community shop and café where you can chill out with a marvellous cafetiere of coffee and some delicious welsh cakes. A perfect starting point for exploring the Gower. Thank Tony and Christine for our wonderful stay.

This is the second time we have stayed at Cwm Ivy in Swallows Rest, Christine and Tony greeted us like long lost friends on arrival, and we were treated to gorgeous homemade cakes and a rose to take home with us. Cwm Ivy and Llanmadoc is a tucked away treasure that delights and improves with every visit. The cottage and gardens are beautiful thanks to Christine and Tony's constant upkeep, we were kept amused constantly with the wildlife around the gardens, from being woken up in the middle of the night by the hoot of barn owls and the scrabbling of badgers looking for worms, to sparrows having morning baths in the fountain, to the wild bunny who lives in the orchard. This is a perfect base to explore the Gower and so we did with great delight. Thank you again Christine and Tony for letting us share your piece of paradise.

After many years visiting Gower we have finally found the perfect base. Stayed in The Bakehouse for one week at the beginning of September. Beautiful well equipped cottage with pretty private garden. The weather was such that we could use the garden for sunbathing every day after a walking in beautiful North Gower. Christine and Tony excellent hosts. Cake and sherry awaiting us together with a pretty pink rose which we were able to bring home. Will definitely be returning.

Stayed at Cwm Ivy Court Farm once again after visiting 5 times previously. Warm, genuine welcome from Tony and Christine, welcomed with home made cake and lovely miniature rose which we were given to take home with us. Both Christine and Tony always go the 'extra mile'- sharpened Paul's knife ( used for fishing !) and gave us fresh produce from the garden.
Initially missed being able to use the pool, however the wonderful weather meant that we could swim in the sea everyday - Mewslade a favourite.
Village perfect, shop a delight, pub handy.......fishing could have been better!
Will be booking again next year!

We had a wonderful fortnight in Swallows' Rest. Comfortable, we'll equipped cottage with some nice surprises (including lovely home made cake) and superb gardens. Owners Christine and Tony could not have been more welcoming or friendly. The area is spectacular and we spent most of our time on the local beaches that stretch along to Worm's Head after a ten minute walk across dunes from the cottage gates. All this plus hardly a person in sight on beautiful expanses of clean sand made this a perfect holiday for us. Cardiff within easy reach by train for a wetter day. We hope to return next year.

We stayed in the Bakehouse this year having stayed in Honeypot last year. That we came back says a lot. It is really peaceful and relaxing. The path to the beach is right outside the gate and set in such a lovely area. The accomodation is very good and comfortable, well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Chrsitine and Tony make you very welcome.
We would recommend everyone stay here, only problem then will be we may not get in when we want to come back!
