We stayed in the Bakehouse for a long weekend with the dogs (the Bakehouse is dog friendly). Christine greeted us on arrival with some delicious coffee and walnut cake and some sherry and gave us a few pointers but left us to settle in.
The cottage is small but just right for a couple, very tastefully furnished and with a nice two seater sofa in front of the oil stove. It was completely quiet, the only noise was the occasional sound of Christine and Tony chatting to neighbours as they stopped by on the way down the path to the beach - the beach itself was probably a 10 minute walk, the walk to the sea considerably longer when the tide is out.
We popped into the community shop, which was great, and had dinner at the local pub, the Brittania, which is about a 15 minute walk. Good pub grub, the pub is clearly a village hub and lively both nights we were there (we dropped in for a quick pint one night).
The location is fantastic if you want to get away from it all, you can't really be nearer the path to the beach. Great hosts, a comfortable bed to sleep on, a warm fire, a lovely little garden in the sunshine... We hope to make this a regular weekend away.
Christine sent us on our way with some plants from her garden, so we'll have a piece of the Gower in our garden.
