Just went for a bit of breakfast after returning from dropping my son to airport to start uni. Called in as highly recommended so I wanted to treat my son's friends as we were feeling pretty low. We had a wait a good few minutes to be seated even tho it was very quiet. Got a seat at least 5 mins later we were ask were we ready to order. Was choking for a coffee. Had to ask? Took our order to until my friend said she was vegan. The waitress said just vegetarian or normal. Then paused to say she had to ask the chef. Returned to ask did she not eat meat ??? Well the chef russled up some sort of patotoes and a bit of veg. All the chef had to do was take out the meat extra mushrooms patatoe bread ect. So anyway she didn't get a vegan fry. Don't think i would go back. As the waitress that took are order was on her knees cleaning skirting boards then served food. Plus there was a few flies flying round the table put me right of the food. Green Tea was grand smoothie nice coffee cold..

Hi there , thank you for taking the time to write a review, we appreciate all feedback. We are disappointed to hear your experience wasn't great. We will address this issue regarding vegan options, we are normally praised on our menu accommodations for all preferences, perhaps we had an off day, i will ensure this is sorted going forward. Regarding the waitress cleaning our skirting, we pride ourselves on keeping the restaurant to a high standard, the waitress must have been quickly finishing a cleaning list from the evening before. I can assure you she will have cleaned her stands in behind the counter before lifting any food from the pass, as all of our staff are trained to a high standard on health and safety. Hope this clarifies this point for you. Thanks
Cara

We went to French Village on Botanic Avenue on a Monday night so it wasn't too busy. We were greeted at the door of the restaurant which almost looks like the hallway of someone's house. I'll start off by saying the food was incredible. We also liked the BYOB policy that seems common in this part of Belfast, we opened two ciders each which were bought from the local Tesco and charged a total of £3 (£1.50 per person) to open them in the restaurant. You end up saving a lot of money doing it this way. Back to the food, we started with the pork belly bites and the tear and share focaccia. I'd definitely recommend the pork belly bites, it was possibly the BEST PORK BELLY we've EVER had, the focaccia was excellent also. For main courses I had the chicken burger, the unique combination of flavours was brilliant and would definitely recommend if you're looking for a burger. My girlfriend had the haddock and chips. Chips were brilliant, the haddock however was outstanding. Batter was light and crispy and the fish was cooked to perfection. The portions were brilliantly sized too which meant we couldn't handle desert as well.
The service was awesome and quick and they made you feel very welcome. The only downside and it's hard for me to give this restaurant a negative point, was the lack of male toilet on the night as it was out of order, I had to use the ladies which made me a bit uncomfortable but even so it was such a minor part of the night.
Overall this restaurant was the best we tried in Belfast and we will definitely return on our next trip.

Found this place through TripAdvisor and trekked over in the rain. We were able to grab a table while it was still quiet...tables started to fill up as it got later in the morning. The place is decorated well and is clean.

There are several options on the menu, not too many, not too few. It was nice to have large cups of coffee with plenty of milk for each (not skimpy like other places). We were all satisfied with our meal choices and left with happy tummies.

Prices are very reasonable. Service was good. Tip: you go to the counter/register to pay the bill (signs are posted). Would definitely recommend.

Visited here for dinner one evening as we were staying in the hotel right opposite. Really nice, intimate, lovely decor, friendly staff and great food. Only thing to note is that they don't serve alcohol and have a byob policy. Got the pork belly bites for starter and chicken burger for dinner. Was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
