Not the worst place I’ve stayed but certainly overpriced for what’s on offer. The first impression was of a very dirty awning over the main door and the interiors were tired and worn. The room and bathroom looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned properly and the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The mattress appeared quite cheap.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a great central location.

Dear Lisamc10

Thank you for your review on your recent stay with us in Malmaison Belfast. I am glad to hear you found the staff helpful and friendly through-out your stay. I am sorry to hear the bed was no to your comfort and that the cleanliness of the room was not quite up to standard. If you would like to discuss this further with me please contact me on receptionmgr.belfast@malmaison.com

Warm regards
Stephanie

Belfast is full of lovely friendly people, including the front desk people at this hotel. However, the hotel is poor. I booked Malmaison because the pictures made it look somewhat sophisticated and unique, yet the minute we arrived in the lobby, having taken a taxi from the airport, we just thought 'oh no'. Then we entered our bedroom and thought the decor and layout was off. We paid for the 2nd or 3rd most expensive room in the hotel and we were so disappointed. The floor boards creaked under the carpet, there were bumps in the wallpaper, the room smelled of cleaning agent, there was a window that looked out onto cement that we couldn't get open, and the bathroom was old-fashioned and not equipped with modern utilities.
Also, the common-areas, and the bar, are designed like a mad-hatter's house. We didn't feel their food would be up to scratch so we went out for every meal, including breakfast.

Thank you Fiona O for your review, albeit disappointing. I am sorry that the bar and public areas didn't meet your expectations based on the pictures of the hotel. Unfortunately I don't know what room you stayed in but our Club and Club Delux rooms were refurbished last year and we do get great feedback about them. I am also sorry that you felt our food wouldn't be up to scratch, we have an extensive menu with great dishes.

Great place with some oddities

I really liked this hotel. The staff were great and friendly.
A great hotel with an excellent bar, good choice of cocktails in drinks menu. From my personal experience it is the best bar in Belfast.
The room was spacious and very clean. Most of the sockets have usb charger built into them, helps if you forget your phone charger.

We stayed at the Malmaison from Monday 8th January 2018 for 2 nights. We had the warmest welcome by Tina who made our trip extra special and booked us into the Samson suite, we walked into the suite and was amazed, We sat in the bar and had several cocktails and Guinness. The hotel has a nice warm ambience which is enhanced by the low lighting and furnishings. We then returned to the suite to relax as it had been a long day. We relaxed on the huge sofa and then played pool on the pool table in the suite. The suite itself is huge, with the pool table, a corner sofa with a log burning fire, this was out of this world the bed was massive and very comfortable. The bathroom has a double walk in shower and a deep roll top bath. We actually didn't want to leave the room but we did and visited the titanic exhibition which I highly recommend. We visited the dirty onion pub which was very cosy with an open fire sat on the leather sofa. The weather was cold but when we returned to the hotel it was a perfect temperature that warmed you back up. We returned to the hotel and had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very nice. I was checking out of the hotel when I was told that a lot of flights had been cancelled due to bad weather. This brought a very broad grin as hoping for an extended stay. Sadly our flight ran on schedule. We have already said we will be visiting Belfast again this year and we will most definatley be staying at the Malmaison. On a personal note I want to thank Tina and her colleagues for making this the best 10th wedding anniversary as every member of the Malmaison staff we came into contact with where very obliging, warm and welcoming, you really are a credit to the Malmaison Hotel. Belfast.
Huge thanks and we will see you again very soon. Heidi Peet.

Stayed for just one night to attend a wedding. Had a good-sized room that was done up well. We enjoyed the breakfast the next day. We paid a small supplement to have a breakfast cooked to order. Only gripe I have is that we felt rather chased out of the hotel as we got a call to our room telling us it was time to leave, when it was only 5 minutes after check-out time. Most hotels give a discretionary half hour or so.

Thank you FlightConnoisseur for your review.

I am sorry that you felt rushed out of the hotel, we do generally have a grace period of 30 minutes, so shall address this with my front desk team.
