We really enjoyed our dinner at the Lantern, arriving after a long day of driving and sight seeing. The food is very fresh, well presented and perfectly cooked. There was a real buzz about the place.

Food was excellent and good value, but the attitude of the manager was a disgrace. False accusations of drinking wine without paying corkage, opening up a new bottle and then telling you to leave. Very poor customer service will not be back!

Myself and my bf came here for our first anniversary dinner. The place was lovely and clean, there was a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. We were there quite early in the evening so got to avail of the pre-theatre menu. My bf had 2 courses and I had 3. The service was efficient and the staff were attentive.
The look of the physical laminated menu was a big on the cheap side as it looked like it was made on microsoft word, it didn't fit the overall look of the place. Our starters were nice and we both had steak for a main. They were both cooked how we wanted but there wasn't much flavour to it, it could have had a bit more seasoning and taco onions would have been nicer than the 2 large battered rings that accompanied it. They just made the food look cheap and almost like pub-grub.
I paid £27.50 for my 3 courses and that included the £4 steak supplement and £3 corkage fee.

Had seen this restaurant on Facebook and my partner walks passed it daily but had never tried it. Last minute we decided to give it a go and brought a bottle of wine with us. We were pleasantly surprised and had a lovely table at the window where. Could watch the world go by! Squid/fish cakes/wow fish n chips!! And amazing chicken supreme...followed by amazing Apple crumple...yum!! Great service and friendly staff will definitely be back. Well done Lantern!

We had a lovely dinner at the Lantern yesterday. We had the soup, goat's cheese spring rolls, mushroom risotto and glazed pork and it was all delicious. The waiter was quick and very friendly. As a suggestion to the restaurant we would recommend investing in better ventilation system as our clothes were a little smelly afterwards.
