We weren't intending to visit this lovely cathedral. We had been on the City Walking Tour and were revisiting the walls after our free cup of tea. As we neared the path into the cathedral grounds, it started to rain, so a visit seemed like a good idea. And we were glad we went in. It was lovely inside and had some interesting features such as the Bishop's Chair from 1630. Recommended.

We didn't have a guided tour of this historic cathedral but thoroughly enjoyed walking around, both inside and outside. It's an integral part of the city's history and well worth a visit.

Such a wonderfully built Cathedral. It was a pleasure visiting this Holy Place. Being smaller than many of the other Cathedrals in the UK it was, despite its still considerable size, more intimate.

I went to the cathedral because my 4xgreat grandparents were married there in 1813. It has changed quite a bit since then but much of original facade still exists. The videotape at the front left area is worth watching and was informative and gave depth to what you were seeing in the cathedral. This was the only Anglican Church we visited among 4 in Ireland and Northern Ireland that was open. All 10 of the Roman Catholic ones were. The church is open and staff available with a small store. No inside photos allowed and as always a donation is appreciated.
The staff were very helpful and informative about our search of the grave yard for ancestor stones. Some were apparently buried under the street when it was laid and many are no longer readable. If you use rootsireland for gravestones be aware the plot number they list is a PRONI reference number not a grave plot as I found out at faughanvale parish church of Ireland in Eglinton and the st. Columb's cathedral. This info was provided by Brian Mitchell genealogist in Derry after my searches of the cemetery.
