Arkle house is very cozy and has a warm friendly atmosphere. I stayed here for 6 weeks in 1997. At the time my company had sent me to Londonderry to run the call center across the street from the location. Sally and Terry were wonderful hosts. The breakfast was amazing and really made me feel at home. I caught a cold while I was there and Sally ensured that I had an oil lamp with Eucalyptus oil burning by my bed, they really gave me the royal treatment.

Not long returned from staying in arkle house for five days. From the moment we steped foot into the home we were greeted with a warm & friendly atmosphere.

We were located in very spacious room with en suite facilities as well as ample storage for all our belongings.
We had a large double bed & one single bed both beds were very comfortable & relaxing & we enjoyed good nites sleep.

The bathroom facilities were excellent & very clean and spacous which gave us the option of our en suite shower and wash basin or enjoying a relaxing bath in the comunal bathroom down the landing.

Breakfast was very satisfing and left us very full for the rest of the day we found ourselfs not eating to late afternoon.! very well cooked and presented enjoyed in a very cosy room.

Overall our stay in arkle house with terry and sally was very pleasurable we were made very welcoming and we cannot wait to return to visit londonderry once again, and will 100% be returing to arkle house to stay.

We stayed in the double room with ensuite with a lovely view of the garden.

The room was very inviting, clean and comfortable. The guest kitchen has full cooking and cleaning facilities with the added bonus of free internet inbetween meals! Not to mention the free chocolate digestives which are my favourites!!

The owners Terry and Sally were very helpful with tourist recommendations and the staff were very friendly at breakfast time.

I will certainly be coming back to Arkle B&B in 2008.

Did not get to meet the owners, which is usually part of the fun in staying in such places. Staff seemed a bit demotivated. Bed was the worst ever, lumpy, hard and squeeked and creeked with every move, the matress should have been dumped years ago. This would not cost much to fix surely.
Had a very bad night trying to sleep, with the poor bed and noise from people leaving a nearby pub or club. Someone in the house was up and about at about 5.30am, and made a lot of noise by opening doors and letting them bang closed again, very inconsiderate and rude I thought. Breakfast was nothing special.

We had a twin room here and it was very cosy but clean. The bathroom was fine though the towels had what looked like rust stains on them. The beds were the electronic adjustable kind so hours of endless fun to be had there!

Location wise it is in a suburban area and is set back from a busy road in leafy gardens. Parking is available though if there are a few other guests it can be tight. At the time of our stay the internet was broken, as was the fridge in the 'guest kitchen'. Although we confirmed our arrival time prior to arrival there was no-one there to let us in and we had to call and wait for about 15 minutes for someone to come and let us in.

The breakfast is fantastic though and the staff, though not entirely friendly, are polite. Location wise it's about a 20-25 minute walk into the centre of Derry so if you are tourists you might want to book something slightly closer to town.

We stayed here one night last year as we were visiting friends nearby and needed to stay overnight. The twin beds in our room were so uncomfortable, very hard and we found it impossible to get comfortable the whole night. We were also very, very cold. The shower cubicle was really grotty - we never cease to be disgusted at people who run hotels and B&Bs and can charge ample room rate yet can't find the time or inclination to use a bit of bleach, or replace obviously germ-ridden sealant and grout - my other half bravely made use of the shower, albeit very gingerly so no part of him touched the sides or wall. I opted to just use the washbasin and have a good wash elsewhere later - I'd had a bit too much to drink the previous evening, and was feeling too delicate to get up close and personal with previous occupants' slimy grime. The decor in the bedroom, and indeed the whole hotel, was very outmoded. The whole place needs a mint spent on it to haul it into this century. Breakfast was okay, that was the best part of it.
