Our train home this evening from Belfast passing by our hotel - the Inn at the Coast (after we got off in Coleraine and drove back). These trains are fast smooth and on time.

Really enjoyed our trip on the train from Coleraine to Londonderry and back. The views are lovely, and you get an excellent perspective of the coastline running along the beach and through tunnels beside the cliffs near Downhill transitioning into wide fields around the estuary of the river on the way into Londonderry. We took the free bus from the railway station into the centre of Londonderry on the way in, and walked back to the train station over the Peace Bridge which took about 15 minutes for the return journey. Very friendly railway staff at both stations - it was nice to leave the car behind for a few hours

Have to agree with another reviewer - I don't know what all the fuss is about. We have travelled extensively in the British Isles and elsewhere in Europe and the scenery is not stunning, or any of the other views that were mentioned. We waited and waited for the spectacular scenery, and it just didn't deliver for us. There are far more spectacular views on the Wild Atlantic Way in the Irish Republic, all the way up to Donegal from West Cork - unfortunately a train doesn't take you to them, but the views would take your breath away. We did enjoy the relaxation of the train trip, but we wouldn't be advising anyone to rush up and take the journey .....rather underwhelmed by the whole experience I'm afraid.

Lovely river and sea views en route. Courtesy bus from to train station to town and back is very handy!

I read that this was a scenic journey, and I sort of waited for it to get beautiful for a while...and then it was STUNNING. Worth the extra few dollars to take the train (as opposed to a bus) for this journey.
