A nice location on the outskirts of Aberdeen, in quiet gardens. Our junior suite was very spacious with a lovely bathroom. Everything very clean. A nice touch is having many items in the minibar complimentary. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Dinner was very nice, and well priced. Excellent breakfast. The one negative was the noise from bins being emptied and deliveries coming in early in the morning (7am)

Dear Momma61

Thank you for taking the time to write such a kind review.

I would like to apologise for the noise experienced, we were informed of it probably by yourselves on checkout and have taken steps to move the times deliveries are made to the Hotel to ensure our guests can have a great nights sleep. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and that we were able to look after you well.

I do hope that we have the opportunity to look after you again in the future.

Kind Regards

A group of 6 of us (and a 3 year old!) had lunch on Saturday in The Marcliffe and it was a lovely experience. We had hoped to eat in The Drawing Room but we booked last minute and it was fully booked but they offered us a table in the restaurant and confirmed that we could still choose from The Drawing Room menu which was perfect. The menu offers a good variety of light lunch options and we all chose something different. The children's menu went down well with our youngest guest! Everything was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The staff who served us were pleasant, polite and professional and the whole experience just felt special. I'm sure we'll be back! Highly recommend :-)

The Marcliffe at Pitfodels is a beautiful, seductive and exquisite five-star country hotel set in its own picturesque grounds on the outskirts of Aberdeen. It remains aberdeens only world class 5 star hotel and restaurant. Facilities are top class, staff are well trained and professional. The restaurant is one of the best around, sample the best local and Scottish produce. This family orientated yet still exclusive feeling hotel is one in a million and a credit to its owners & staff.

Booked a Ruby wedding celebration lunch at the Marcliffe and from making the arrangements right through to the day itself the whole process went very smoothly and professionally.

We sat down with Marion to discuss what we wanted and to make all the arrangements. A typical 4 course lunch menu was provided but it was explained that the actual menu on the day might be slightly different. Nothing was too much trouble and was well explained and the pricing clearly presented. We then provided seating plans and confirmed final numbers.

On arrival we were met with a management representative and waiting staff. My elderly parents were with us and the staff went out of their way to help with getting them seated etc while we waited for guests to arrive.

The room and tables were beautifully laid out and a seating plan, place cards and flowers were provided.

As guests arrived they had a welcome drink of choice and orders were taken for lunch.

Shortly before lunch was due to be served a guest unfortunately took ill but the staff coped well and paramedics and ambulance were called. Thankfully the guest was then able to continue and join in the lunch.

Due to the illness of the guest, lunch was slightly delayed but the quality of the meal did not suffer and all guests commented on the food and excellent service. My mum asked for small portions and as her right hand is not so strong, the staff discretely asked her if she would like her meal cut up, this was duly done in the kitchen, so there was no embarrassment.

After the meal guests mingled and there was no pressure for them to leave.

So thank you to all the staff at the Marcliffe who helped us celebrate our Ruby wedding, particularly the senior staff member (Sheena?) who was faultless and very kind and considerate to all - she deserves a medal. Also the management representative who handled the guest illness wonderfully.

To all the staff involved from start to finish you more than deserve your 5 stars!

We have been regular visitors over the last decade and this hotel under the direction of its owner really has only got better. The rooms are clean comfortable and well equipped, the bathrooms the same but the real star of the hotel is the staff. From the greeting on entry to the receptionist to the staff in the lounge and restaurant they cannot do enough for you and everything is done with a smile and a willingness rarely seen nowadays.
The breakfast is worth a comment itself with the smoked haddock a real star my only disappointment is that there is no haggis on the menu. Again the staff and chef cannot do enough.
A quality hotel at all levels worth a visit just to see how it can be done!

Following my daughters graduation she wanted post ceremony lunch at a special place. Like her Degree award, it proved to be First Class.
The welcome and assistance when we arrived was excellent. Accessibility for our wheelchair user was unhindered and well accommodated as were all our comfort and needs. Whilst slightly quieter than we had anticipated, it only added a level of attention and care, which was much appreciated.
The menus are not extensive but very well presented and give a good range of quality and variation. We had not been aware of a specific 'Graduation' menu as we had chosen the Marcliffe on reputation and ambiance. It proved to be an excellent menu which highlighted some of their best plates and represented superb value for the quality and choice, including champagne.
Traditional classic 'silver service' attention could hardly be better exemplified with the utmost attention to courtesy and detail. The waiting staff were a pleasure and superb representatives to the establishment.
As my daughter was desperate for the iconic mortar board launch, our hats off to the Marcliffe. We highly recommend and will certainly return; sooner rather than later.
Thank you.

Room Tip: As always, treat the staff with respect and it shall be returned.

Dear Madscotsman166

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

I apologise that you find our beverage prices 'out of reach' for yourself, we base our pricing to be competitive with our main competition in the area and do hope that this didn't spoil your experience and that you did enjoy the afternoon tea food offerings with the group of ladies you were dining with.
