No hesitation in recommending this property close to the lovely border town of Peebles. Perched on the top of the Tweed valley adjacent to the historic castle it's a unique place to stay if you're walking, touring or even spending time in Edinburgh (just an hour away by bus). Comfortable, with everything you need to self cater whilst still being close to restaurants and pubs nearby, it's a great place to stay.
Such an impressive place to stay. It was our annual doggy trip, and oh boy, our boys adored it, an absolutely ideal location for them. You can either take the somewhat steep path down to the river, or walk up to the road, walk towards town for a couple of minutes, and go through the first gate into the park. Then you can walk through one park after another, all the way to the other end of Peebles. Doggy heaven. In the first park, there is a footbridge over the river, if you go over and turn back in the direction of Neidpath, you can walk for miles through forested/riverside paths.
The cottage has everything you could possibly need. Superbly equipped, and loved that the traditional window shutters are still in use. We used to have a Victorian house, but in that they had long been painted over, and we couldn’t afford to restore them.
Peebles is a lovely little town, splendid shops and eateries. Recommend the County Hotel in the High Street, dog friendly (water and biscuits) in their little snug area just as you go in, a warm welcome and great food, big portions. Ladies, do not go near the Inis boutique if you are a clothes shopper - you will leave it with a very large dent in your wallet. Seriously fab shop.
The cottage was lovely, the was kitchen fantastic , the scenery was breathtaking, enjoyed my stay as did the rest of my family
Neidpath Castle Cottage is a super place for a relaxing break. Really well equipped cottage, with great log fire. Great scenery and definitely somewhere we want to come back to! Really enjoyed the very interesting guided tour of the castle. Thank you!
This was our second stay in the cottage (and second review). We really enjoyed our return visit. The cottage is wonderful – well cared for, well equipped, comfortably furnished and, most of all, cosy. It is conveniently close to the lovely town of Peebles with all it's amenities but still manages to retain it's seclusion. After long walks in the beautiful Borders countryside it was great to relax in front of the log fire and plan the next days adventure. If you like the Scottish countryside in all it's glorious autumn colour you would find it hard to beat the views from every window of the cottage at this time of year or if views of the awesome night sky with no light pollution appeal to you then this is the place to be. We will be back !
