We stayed one night over the weekend and not entirely sure what to make of it, but erred on the positive. We turned up a little earlier than the stated time, but no one was about (although the door was unlocked) eventually the guy turned up 15 minutes after check-in time, but sat in his car for 5 minutes before getting out to ask if we had been waiting long and what room were we in as he didn't deal with that side of things (the woman who does was missing). He then took our breakfast order making a big deal of the scottish breakfast (black pudding & haggis) before showing us the room. All pretty strange. Anyway the room was ok, nice décor, bed a bit hard and a little noisy with the window open. At breakfast the next day he took our order, again!, making a big thing about the scottish breakfast and when it arrived I tried not to laugh at the half a slice of black pudding and third of a slice of haggis I got with it, thinking why did you even bother offering this option (no sight or mention of the white pudding on the breakfast menu either!). Oh, the woman made an appearance just before we left so at least she was ok and actually existed. To be fair both were very friendly and we maybe caught them on a bad day when trying to check in.

Really nice place. hosts were friendly & couldn't do enough for us. We didn't go for the luxurious room just an ordinary homely one. Breakfast was delicious good produce & cooked to perfection. Hosts very attentive & asked if we needed any more etc! Would definitely recommend to friends & family.. would stay here again..

Really enjoyed our recent stay with Brenda and Roy who are really nice people. Great value for money, location, parking, breakfast... You get my meaning.
I would recommend this place to anyone. Not a faceless chain hotel but a homely abode with real people.

Being an older couple who have been together for many years, we wanted a quiet, romantic wedding and we were not disappointed when we chose Anvil View for our base. The location is great, just a short walk over the road to our wedding venue at The Original Blacksmith's shop. We stayed in luxurious Room one with a four poster bed and jacuzzi bath. There was a bottle of bubbly and chocolates by the bed to welcome us, luxurious soft and fluffy bath robes and the room was very clean and comfortable. With beautiful furniture. Iron and ironing board and hairdryer all provided in the room along with free wifi. It was a treat to enjoy a spa bath, with the luxury Temple Spa toiletries, plentiful hot water and to watch the built in tv whilst enjoying a glass of bubbly! Brenda recommended a couple of places to eat and we had a delicious meal next door in the evening. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and Brenda & Roy went to great lengths to make sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. We would not hesitate to recommend Anvil View. Thank you Brenda and Roy for making our wedding day relaxing, enjoyable and special. Your guesthouse is beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. Jill and Jim Baker

Room Tip: I don't think any of the rooms would be disappointing but if you like a jacuzzi bath with a tv then room 1 is the one to choose!
