Coming to the end of a long trip Aberdeen - London and all places in between, we fancied a decent hotel and found this one. Very nice reception area and room. Used the bar area to watch the World Cup qualifying match whilst munching on a good burger! Nice staff. Tried to use the hotel the month after but the price had doubled and we stayed in Dumfries instead , not great! Will use again.

Thanks Carole for posting up your feedback. I'm of course delighted at the positive comments, but disappointing that we didn't have you stay the month after your first visit. Hotel prices do of course fluctuate dramatically dependant on demand - whereas you may score a bargain one time, a Sunday perhaps or simply a day when general occupancy is low but other days (certainly weekends during Summer) i will be selling as rack rate (£160 for a double room). Most hotels operate like this as I'm sure you understand , but i get it, one cant help being frustrated when variations in price occur, especially when such a good experience was had first time around. Always check our website for pricing and offers - the best rates are always found there. Best regards Darren

I was very lucky to have stayed here for a business trip for 2 nights, when I arrived I was told that I had been upgraded from a superior room to the penthouse suite...... Woohoo!
The suite is incredible, big lounge, massive bedroom with balcony and a TV bed, the bathroom is huge with a giant bath tub with a TV on the wall. If you can afford the suite you will not be disappointed, it was incredible and would love to return. Breakfast was great and so was food in the restaurant which I have reviewed separately.

Is superb when that happens hey Jukebox , an unexpected upgrade (never seems to happen to me though). Absolutely delighted that you had a great business trip and that the comfort of the room took the edge of having to actually do business. Its always worth asking on check in about upgrades - whereas we cant always give them complimentary a small upgrade charge will often bag you the room - oh and ALWAYS book direct with the hotel - its amazing how many people still dont. All the best Darren

We stayed in the penthouse suite for our wedding, just the two of us. Staff were amazing, suite was beautiful, massive spa bath, huge comfortable bed, 2 balconies. We had a problem with our shower and it was sorted within an hour. Food was beautiful. We had an alcove for after our wedding for a private meal and it was set up beautifully. All in all we had a perfect wedding and made more special by smiths, thank you and we will see you again soon

My first time in Scotland and this was the first stop on our road trip. From the moment we checked in till we left it was fantastic. The room was huge, with iron & board, tea & coffee, water and hairdryer plus seating area.

We ate in the bar, first class food, fish and chips and tagine, followed by chocolate fondant and ice cream. We also had cocktails my Singapore Sling was fantastic.
Breakfast was fantastic, lovely choices and usually I’m not a buffet fan but this was very nice and fresh.

Only negatives rooms are dark and the lift a bit scary. Would definitely come back if in the area.
