Great stay , excellent friendly staff, great food and wine at less than £8 a bottle. I was my 50th and they had decorated the cottage and left a complimentary bottle of bubbly for us--nice touch that many bigger hotels would charge for. Certainly will return.

Room Tip: If you can get one of the 2 cottages at the rear of the hotel, double room and twin room

It has taken some time for me to do this review but I felt it really important to do so.

We were married on 9 July 2011 and we asked the Balmoral, having stayed a few times before, if they could accommodate a small wedding party of around 17 people. Not only did they accommodate us by sitting us ain the slightly elevated seating area but they put up lovely balloons and decorations.

They also took our food and drink orders quickly and efficiently and brought everyone's food more or less at the same time. They also gave us a lovely wedding card and champagne.

This hotel just never disappoints. The staff were, as usual, excellent but, in the circumstances, were just outstanding.

The day was beautiful and we were all able to sit in the beer garden as well. All in all an excellent room and an excellent stay and a wedding we will never forget.

We had booked to go back shortly afterwards but had to cancel due to family issues but we will be back and hopefully it will be to celebrate our anniversary!!

We stayed here for one night as we wanted to look at wedding venues the next day. Our room was huge, at the front overlooking the main street. It was warm and comfortable if slight noisy after 11pm. The only downside to this place was the fried breakfast in the morning served by an un-smiling woman. The sausages were cheap, bacon was floppy and not cooked enough. Eggs were far to runny for my liking. Also, limited range of cereals etc, so I ended up not eating much. However, great ale for money and he pub is nice and lively to sit in at night and pub food was cheap.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back.
