We (2 couples) stayed for 3 nights in September and loved Craigwell Cottage. The cottage is clean and comfortable and the facilities excellent. We were met by Susan who showed us around and provided plenty of advice and was available if required during our stay. The bedrooms are not huge, but a good size and very comfortable. The living / dining is big with good views and great facilities - plates & cutlery, teapot, dishwasher, washing machine, oven, microwave, good fridge - a real home away from home. We were a bit worried when we heard cars on the cobblestones during the day as it was quite loud. However we never noticed it at night and all slept soundly.
The best aspect of this cottage is the location. It was about a 15 minute walk from the train station. It is one block from the Royal Mile and the Castle and Holyrood Palace are both within easy walking distance. In fact everything in Edinburgh is within walking distance (and we are in our early 60s). There is also a car parking space available which we did not require. We loved our stay in Edinburgh and have no hesitation in recommending Craigwell Cottage.More
