Splendid buildings, busy as you would expect. The cathedral is huge and although austere from the outside it is lovely. Splendid view of the appproaching castle.

So much to see in such a short distance (well, a slightly longer distance than an English mile)!! Definitely recommend doing this as part of a walking tour - HIGHLY recommend the free walking tour organised by SANDEMANs newEUROPE. If possible, go with Greg (Last photo!!)!! He's a fantastic guide; full of great historical knowledge and humour!!

The Royal Mile has something for everyone. There are street-entertainers, traditional and modern shops, restaurants, bars, historical features, you name it, really. We preferred it to Princes Street.
