The hotel is very near Haymarket station (just across the road) and handy if you're getting the train in. We checked in at the main building (the one with the restaurant) and were quite early. The member of staff noticed our pram and said the room wasn't ideal as it was down some stairs so changed it to another room which was ready for us. On entering the room they called us to say they thought it would be a squeeze with the cot they were going to provide and would we be happy to move to a larger room.

To be honest the room was a good size, it wasn't huge but was functional and the bathroom seemed OK too, but I'm not one to turn down a larger room! We got moved to one at the front of the hotel and a member of staff came to help us with our stuff and take us across.

The other room was much bigger, both rooms were well done out to a high standard and were clean and tidy. Taking on some comments from other reviews I would say it was a little noisy being at the front but wasn't too bad, the window was slightly drafty, the water pressure wasn't brilliant but worked fine for us. The wi-fi wignal was excellent for us and we used the BT Openzone (some mobile providers will give you free access to BT Openzone so worth checking out first). It would be nice if the room had a fridge too.

We found the service was excellent from all members of staff and we were always greeted with a smile and a cheery hello, and during any interactions with staff they always seemed to be happy to go the extra mile to make our stay a good one. I know other reviews have mentioned a lot of foreign staff (it makes no difference to me) but there was a lot of English and Scottish staff. Had the service not been so good I would have maybe scored this a 4 out of 5.

The hotel is located in a quiet area, there is a Boots nearby and a Co-op food store as well as plenty of restaurants and bars. Princes walk is a good 10 minutes but not really a problem for us.

Thank you for posting a review of the Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. The staff are certainly a credit to the hotel and it always fills me with much pride when their hard work and dedication are acknowledged.

The hotel is currently in the process of upgrading all windows from single to double glazing; the second phase of which will start in May this year.

I was delighted that our receptionist had the initiative to offer you an alternative room and hope this made your that little bit extra special..

Thank you.

Situated close to haymarket station means this location is not the most central for city attractions but only ten minute walk and you've reached princes street and the more prestigious sister hotel of the Caledonian. Difference though is price. If you can get one of the newly refurbished rooms in the townhouse, this is excellent value. Superb suite with modern comfortable furniture and nice touches with complimentary jelly beans, fruit ad soft drinks. Some good restaurants close by.

Thank you for your review.

I was delighted to read your feedback of our Townhouse annexe; the Townhouse underwent a full £1.3 million refurbishment last year and the rooms are stunning. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and do hope that if visiting Edinburgh in the future you choose to stay with us again.

Thank you.

After reading the reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. This is a very nice hotel overall.

Amazing service and and easy walk to every where in Edinburgh (or a cheap cab ride). Room was spacious and bed comfortable. Only knocks are the non-existant water pressure and flaky wi-fi.

Would though stay here again in the future.

I have never stayed at a Hilton, but did expect a high standard to go along with the high price. The room was small, bed was comfortable and staff were very helpful. But no fridge and a telly that is very limited and hard to use.
Everything was rediculously priced, room service for breakfast in bed for 2 is £14. So instead we walked across the road to the second part of the hotel for an ok breakfast. I would not of paid for the breakfast if it was not included in price. All breakfast food was stale and warm. Nothing special.
What put me mostly of the hotel and it's reputation was the state of the windows and heating system. The wood is rotten, and the glass if pushed came out of the wood. Bearing in mind we stayed on a windy night it blew and rattled threw the room. The room was cold and had one small radiator and when turned up made a continues noise. With the combination of the window and heating we didn't get much sleep.
Overall hotel is nice but only if you got it on the cheap, I personally think it is no better than a premier inn.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel.

I am sorry that your first stay with Hilton was a disappointing one. All rooms in the hotel do vary in size due to the building originally being townhouses when built in 1860. Our rooms are all unique in their own style but all are of Hilton standard.

At the Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor, we currently do not have in room fridges and as such we do not advertise these as a room amenity.

I am sorry you did not get to experience our true breakfast standard as the Hilton breakfast generally always receives rave reviews.

Thank you.

Used the Hilton as they had a good deal on, good value for what we paid, breakfast was really good, could not fault the staff really friendly whereever you went in the hotel they were so well mannered and could not do enough for you. Only downside was a little too far from the theatre where we were going for the night! but well done Hilton!

Room Tip: ask for a upgrade, they told us where possible they would-but you have to ask!

the hotel was very comfortable and in a great location next to Haymarket Station and only a 10 minutes walk to the West End where there are a number of bars and restuarants for a good night out. On arriving at the hotel we were early and they were helpful in keeping out luggage for us to allow us to do some shopping. On arriving at the hotel we did notice that it seemed to be on both sides of the street which did confuse us as we were not sure on which reception to check in at. Unfortunetly we were on the side wrong side of the street as we had to walk over the road to go to the bar and resturant but thankfully it was dry outside so we never got soaked so just beware. The room was clean and pleasant although i found it small and there was no drawer space for putting clothes away. I would stay again but would request the other side of the street so as not to go outside.

Room Tip: ensure your on the side of the street where the facilities are.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel.

The hotel is housed over two separate buildings; the main hotel and the newly refurbished Townhouse annexe, guest are welcome to check-in, in either of the buildings. Guests in the Townhouse building can enjoy a Continental breakfast and we do offer 24 hour room service. All rooms in the hotel vary in size due to the nature of the building, rooms are all unique in their own style, but are all of Hilton standard.

I am glad overall that you enjoyed your stay with us and delighted that you would stay again.

Thank you.

Was at this hotel for 3 nights with work. Rooms nice, although mine was a very small double compared to my colleagues' rooms. Breakfasts very nice, as were lunches. My room was at the front of the building which was a bit noisy due to traffic, esp buses until late. No gym in this hotel but you can use neighbouring Hilton gym for a charge. No hotel car park. No issues at check-in or check out, very swift. I'd definitely stay again but would ask for a larger room next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the front of the hotel

Thank you for your review.

I was delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay. I am sorry if you felt your room was on the small side, rooms in the hotel do vary in size due to the building originally being townhouses when built in the 1860’s. I am sorry for the inconvenience due to traffic noise, this is due to the Tram works taking place in this part of town, unfortunately traffic is currently being diverted along our normally quiet street, we are currently upgrading all windows in the hotel from single to double glazing and once complete this will give better sound proofing for our guest.

Thank you.
