the view is breathe taking but the walk up is hard for, I would say, for handicap, old persons but the view is worth it.

This place is ideal for a short hike combined with some exercise, if you wish and if you're in at least a moderate good shape. Otherwise, just a slow hike works too.
In longer Summer days, when the weather is good and there's no wind, I like to jog/run up the rocky/grassy hills and final stone steps till the top of Arthur's Seat. With clear skies, the reward is a beatiful 360º view of the city that stretches to Leith, Portobello and the North Sea. On the way down, my favorite route is the North option that ends in the Loch and Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Bring comfortable shoes or boots, and a wind-stopper if you tend to get cold, as it's usually always windy at the top.
We walked through Holyrood Park and up to Arthur's seat one morning and really enjoyed it. Such a nice big nature area in a a city. Worth the time if you can.
I was aiming for Arthur's Seat but felt it was too arduous for an unplanned hike. Plus the sun was setting early & I didn't want to rush up panting. So I opted for a shorter hike starting from the steep walk from Queen's Drive towards St Anthony's Chapel & ending at St Margaret's Loch. This shorter route gave my friend & I time to enjoy the scenery & to chat.
You would pass joggers, rock climbers, hikers with their dogs... It was a good walk with a good view of the city. You will need comfortable shoes & clothes for walking & climbing.
Nice park for visit, if you are in Edinburgh and you want to enjoy view from the Arthur's Seat, the park's highest point, remains of old volcano. The park offers variety of dramatic landscape, hills, lochs, glens, ridges; it is full of history and archaeology.
Cool place where to run from city. Great for single walk or for daily running. One of best places for pictures.
