“Fantastic! Highlight of our vacation!”

The Castle Snug was the highlight of our visit to Edinburgh! The owners had everything ready upon our arrival and not only was it furnished with anything you could possibly need for a one or multi-night stay, it was the most beautifully decorated accommodation I have ever visited overseas! I loved the Murphy bed and greatly enjoyed the charm of the second floor loft room. My friend and I made use of the full service kitchen and adorable gas fireplace/stove. Additionally, the Castle Snug was located directly across from a cafe (perfect for a full Scottish Breakfast!) and within a minutes walk of every store and pub on the Royal Mile. When we return to Edinburgh we will definitely be returning to the Castle Snug! Wonderful Accommodation!

The Castle Snug has history, atmosphere and a wonderful location. Brian & Christine are very responsive to any query you may have. The beds are very comfortable and the Snug is well stocked. Don’t stay in a sterile hotel room. Do yourself a favor and stay at the very special Castle Snug.

“Best Place to Stay in Edinburgh”

We stayed at the amazing Castle Snugg for 5 nights at the end of June for my birthday. What an absolutely wonderful place to stay. The accommodation itself is comfortable, with every amenity you could want and it is a feat of the mind how so much was packed into a tiny space. The character of the apartment is just wonderful allowing me to stay in a 'castle' as has always been my dream! The only down side and it is minor, would be the alley behind the apartment which is used as a dumping ground for rubbish by nearby businesses - it's been cleverly hidden by wooden balcony struts and nice foliage however when you do open the windows (as we had need too it was hot) the smell isn't very nice. To be fair we hadn't even realised the problem until night 3 so it can't be that noticeable! The beds were extremely comfy and the shower had lovely hot pressure. The location itself is another selling point - it could not be more central to all the tourist attractions and the Royal Mile, it is literally on your doorstep and you can be at the castle entry gates within 5 minutes. Wonderfully handy for shopping, as could just nip back to drop the bags off with no big trek involved. We stayed in the summer holidays and didn't notice any noise as such, to be honest after 10.30pm Royal Mile seems to close down at the top end where the apartment is and it's lovely and quiet. The pub underneath, can be heard when it's pub quiz night (Monday) but thats the only time we heard it at all. The owners were fantastic, extremely friendly and accommodating - allowing us to leave our bags in the room due to a later train and responding quickly to issues with the wifi (there was a problem and virgin had to be called out but gave us the pub's password downstairs to use instead). Staying here made my birthday and our first visit to Scotland as a couple very special, I simply won't be staying anywhere else when we visit again and we WILL be back soon :)

“Top Spot”
Reviewed July 18, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

A wonderful example of quirky old town Edinburgh. Could not be better placed - on The Royal Mile within strolling distance of all the major attractions.

A feat of ingenuity to pack so much character into a relatively small space. We had a long weekend here and loved the place. It takes top spot for us. We have stayed in Edinburgh's 5 star hotels before but this place beats them all. We ate out but if you're self catering all the kit you need is present in abundance.

Probably not the quietest place in Town at night, but the buzz adds to the overall experience.

There's countless places to eat and drink within minutes. You're literally next door to the Jolly Judge Pub; yet another quirky example of this amazing city.

As a rule we never go back to the same place twice but this will be our exception.

Quite an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend it.

“fantastic Edinburgh apartment”
Reviewed June 28, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

we just stayed at the snug this weekend and can't sing its praises high enough. It really is in the best location you can find. Everything you want is right in your doorstep yet you are tucked away down a quiet lane. The bed was really comfy and everything was spotless. Can't wait to book again!

“A wonderful birthday treat!”

We booked this for my mother and stepfather to celebrate their 70th and 80th birthdays; they had a wonderful time, enjoying the central location and unique accommodation, and being so central managed to pack in a huge amount of sightseeing in a few days. Brian, the owner, helped organise this trip for them, ad could not have done more helping enormously with queries both before and during the visit as well as taking in a Tesco delivery prior to their arrival so everything was laid on for them. Although I did not stay there, the feedback from my parents was superb, and they had a wonderful trip. Thank you.
