We were staying at the Grange Hotel and 2 course dinner was part of the deal. Our food was lovely - the mac n black was absolutely delicious. I found the staff to be very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine they were serving. We will certainly return.

As we were staying at Grange Manor, the offer included a two course meal here. The food was very tasty but unsure whether they were just tired or careless we had one cold starter (should have been hot) and my main course of Liver and Bacon was missing the bacon!!! All was eventually put right but I cant help feeling these were fundamental oversights

Thank you for taking the time to review Cooks following your recent visit, I am pleased to read you found the food to be tasty, however I am concerned as to how a dish which is to contain two items was missing one.

Please be assured that on your next visit you will not encounter such problems.

We live locally and used to eat here regularly. This used to be a fabulous eatery but sadly it has gone down hill over the years. There were only two members of waiting staff present and as the Restuarant became busy they were clearly out of their depth. We ordered haggis bon bons to share and were given the tiniest plates to put them on. In the past the Restuarant had lovely designer white plates. Main course was chicken fajitas which was extremely spicy and the chicken was over cooked and tough. The Balmoral chicken looked lovely but again the meat was tough. The service seemed a bit shambolic with the two staff not appearing to know who had been served and who hadn't. We were seated oppisite the kitchen and so could clearly see food sitting waiting to be served and heard the chefs shouting "service please" several times but no one going in to collect the food. Normally I would always comment on food whilst in the Restuarant so as to give staff a chance to rectify any problem but tonight it was impossible as both staff were run off their feet and very much out of their depth. The original menu was much better and there was always a daily special which was superb. The menu now is on a piece of plastic and the prices are over inflated for the service and quality of food offered. The meal wasn't terrible and it wasn't inedible it was just disappointing and certainly not of a standard that warranted the price.

The poor service mainly due to untrained staff, most of were unsure what to do and communication with kitchen looked bad, with the exception of one member 'Pauline', who went out her way to try her best , other diners had the same view.
