“While the house was ok the service was poor and expensive.”

The service offered by Kingask properties is expensive and not tourist-friendly. For example, the house lists 'linens' as 'included' we had to place 5 telephone calls before receiving them on the second day from a surly manager, after showering using tea towels. The company also charges extra to simply deliver the keys to the house, which at all other rental properties is standard. To get the keys, a rental car is necessary as one must drive out of St Andrews. These costs make the house not worth its expense.

In general, given that to stay at The Wee House one must overlook the fact that the noise from the street is overwhelming (due to the poorly insulated windows) and that the bedrooms offer no privacy as they face onto the main road, I would have at least expected very friendly and welcoming service.

Liked best: The open upstairs - lovely format
Liked least: The service and the hidden charges - because of this we will not re-book.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that your experience with Kingask was not satisfactory. Linens are in fact supplied but towels are only supplied if added as an extra when you make your booking, some clients prefer to bring their own. We simply run too many properties to be able to meet all the guests at the houses and again this is made clear at the time of booking. The Wee House is one of busiest houses and has had a full occupancy since the beginning of May, this is the only bad review the property has received. The house is situated in the middle of town which everyone finds very convenient but noise from the environment is unavoidable, all the windows in the house are double glazed and the house is well insulated with very thick walls. Shutters are fitted to both bedroom windows and if operated correctly give total privacy to our guests. Once again we apologise that your stay was not as you wished but we have taken your comments on board.

“Central location”

We stayed in the Wee House for one week. It was comfortable and central for all St Andrews has to offer. On the downside, as the property was right on the main road and on a roundabout it was always very noisy for us. Although it is a very old building it is extremely modern on the inside with everything you will require for a self catering holiday.

Thank you for your feedback. The property is fully double glazed throughout and well insulated, although we agree it is central and next to a main road, we feel every effort has been made to cut down on the noise pollution, although being in the middle of town, this is hard to eradicate completely.

“Fab house in the centre of St Andrews”

stylishly refurbished 17th century cottage in the heart of St Andrews next to the historic West Port and close to all the attractions.

A top notch renovation gives this historic property a 21st century interior! It sleeps four (or six with the sofa bed). With contemporary décor and state of the art facilities, this is a really comfortable house and a great base for exploring the historic university town of St Andrews. The large and luxurious upstairs living area features comfy sofas and a huge wide screen TV with freeview and cd player. The open-plan lounge has a sofa bed, which is handy to accommodate extra visitors. The cottage also has WIFI throughout.

The open-plan and well-equipped kitchen features a small dining area and includes a dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge/freezer – in short, everything you need for self-catering. Downstairs there are two good-sized ensuite bedrooms, which can be twins or doubles. Both feature luxury bathrooms, with superb drench showers.

One the highlights of staying in the Wee House is its fantastic central location. The Wee House is adjacent to the West Port, one of the few surviving city gates in Scotland, built in 1589. It’s close to St Andrew’s many restaurants, inns, bars and independent shops and is only a short stroll away from the beach, Old Course and famous Cathedral ruins.
