We had a night at the Glasgow Marriott courtesy of Skywards and spening a Sunday night there. We had an inauspicious start to our visit when trying to park the car we nearly damaged the car's suspension due to a major hole in the parking area. The decor of the hotel seemed a bit tired and the lighting was dull. We had a room on the 9th floor which gave us an outlook over the M8, it was clean but as is often the case it was difficult to regulate the heating to give us a comfortable room temperature. The location of the hotel is good as we were able to walk into the centre of Glasgow for a drink and something to eat. We used the gym in the morning and it wasn't too busy. All in all it was fine but then we were staying there for free (except for £8 parking fee), not sure I would want to pay the going rate for it.

Another lovely weekend at the Glasgow Marriott. We just parked the car and forgot about it. Easy check in...lovely, friendly and efficient staff...a lovely south facing room on a high floor...a great base for a week-end in Glasgow. I'm a newspaper addict and the papers arrived at 6.20am with a gentle knock on the door as requested. Nice breakfast...even better than at home...and I'm the cook! A warm pool and the local bus and trains are at the door although it is a easy walk to the City Centre and Pacific Quay (across the river). Keep up the good work...really good value, and I had checked around.

Room Tip: South-side preferred...

I use marriott hotels a lot but the Glasgow Marriott has exceptional ignorant and incompetant staff. The waiting time for service at the reception and particularly the bar was long to say the least. And the night staff just didnt want to serve anyone, probably just looking for an easy shift. If you stay there, eat and drink somewhere else, lots of places really close!

We have frequently visited the Marriott Glasgow over the last few years and the reason we keep going back is the excellent service. We were given money as a Christmas gift and booked ourselves a night with dinner bed and breakfast for £99. Compared to what we would generally spend on a hotel and dinner we thought this excellent value.

At dinner we had a 3 course set menu. My partner did not fancy any of the main courses and asked if there were any alternatives. The waitress checked with the chef and came back with a couple of alternatives at no extra cost. Food was delicious with decent sized portions.

Breakfast has always been the same, although on the Saturday this was extended to 12pm which suited us fine as we wanted a lie in.

The reason why we keep going back to Glasgow Marriott is its value and the staff.

On the down side - the room had a double bed and not a great deal of room to manoevre, the restaurant reminded me a little of a cafeteria and at the sides, where we were all placed for Dinner on the Friday evening, the tables were too close together, so no chance of a private conversation. For the breakfast on the Saturday morning we were given a table in the centre area but on Sunday morning, back to the sides and bottoms practically in your face as people squeezed past to their seats - not pleasant first thing in the morning. Breakfast itself, was only adequate - I requested poached eggs and on both occasions, they were delivered on a cold plate so that by the time I had gone to the buffet for my bacon, the meal was barely luke warm.
On the up side, the Dinner menu was excellent and the food in the bar, most enjoyable. The bar itself is a large and comfortable area.
What saves this hotel are the staff who universally were all wonderful. The receptionist with long red hair when we checked in was SO welcoming, the restaurant Manager and his staff (especially the young University Student who served us on Friday night) looked after us brilliantly, the Dutch Bar Manager was just a credit to the establishment and the Spanish receptionist on our Check out, brilliant.
We would certainly return and it is down to the staff.

We stayed here for 5 nights whilst on business and found the hotel to be excellent. The location was good and the hotel was able to organise an airport taxi pick-up service. The staff were friendly and we would definitely stay again.

Real nice hotel in Glasgow. Took the train in from Edinburgh and was not quite sure of the location so took a taxi from the Queen Street Station. Next time I would probably just walk as I think it would be only about 15 minutes from the station. Upon entering the hotel the lobby was very welcoming and the lady that checked us in was very friendly and gave us a map of the city and showed us where we could go in the city via walking. The room was a very nice size and the bed at the Marriott as usual was very comfortable. We went out for a walk and in 5 minutes we were at The Sir John Moore a Wetherspoons pub. What a deal, a nice dinner that included a pint of a real nice ale for just 7.99 pounds. We then walked around the city including Buchanaan Street which is a very lively area and a great place to sit and have a pint and just let the world go by and do some people watching. Just stayed the one night at the hotel because had to catch a flight back to the USA in the morning but will surely stay here when I return to Glasgow, which I can't wait to do. The taxi from the hotel to the international airport is 22 pounds.
