“Glasgow is the best”
Reviewed 25 May 2012

This was the first time we had used Premier Inns and we were pleasantly surprised to find just how well everything meets with the Premier Inn publicity claims. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable with a great bathroom. The hotel is very well situated for a short walk into the city centre, no need for bussing unless the weather is bad. We were met with friendliness and courtesy at all times by the staff. We took up the offer of the £22 meal deal for which we got a good evening meal (although lacking fresh vegetables) and an "eat as much as you like breakfast", we ate modestly. No road noise at the back of the hotel, but a group of youths (students?) decided it was party time on the green space to the rear and windows were slammed shut all round. But no fear they cleared off at 9.30, voluntarily or otherwise.
Glasgow is so amazing to visit with its architecture and venues of interest, we could have stayed a week, 2 days was not enough. The hotel is right by the river and is well situated for future development when it comes along, Glasgow gave the impression of being "on the move" and vibrant. I would recommend the Open Top Tour bus which for £11 (£9 concessions) and 48 hour use, gave you running commentary by a witty Scot and the opportunity to hop on and off at the any of the attractions the city has to offer, eg transport museum, science centre, Kelvingrove gallery and many more.
We look forward to another visit and perhaps taking advantage of the £29 nights that occasionally come up.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are quiet but there was very little intrusive noise anywhere except for the lo...

Stayed here for one night as it was handy for a concert at the O2. Friendly staff, clean room, very comfy bed. I hadn' t stayed in a Premier Inn before but based on this experience would definitely do so again. Breakfast is buffet style but quality was reasonable and the £22 dinner and breakfast deal was good value. There is co-op very close by if you forget anything and it has a bank machine

Stayed at this hotel twice in the last 2 months with my partner and both times have had a fantastic stay! It is on a main road but never heard a noise, staff are very friendly and polite. Rooms were very clean and the beds are so comfy! Read some negative comments about the hotels location which I think are unfair I myself actually live in the gorbals and used the hotel as I needed to be away from my house but still be local the gorbals has moved on and is nowhere like the way it was in the past, it is true that there is some bad characters about but you will find people like this anywhere you go. overall I had a very enjoyable stay and the buffet breakfast was fab!

I am a regular user of Premier Inns and with my knowledge of Glasgow, this hotel suited me. Its location was in the infamous Gorbals, but the Gorbals have long gone and comments about this hotel being in a 'dog rough' area are ill thought out and unconstructive, especially the reviewer who should've kept quiet about his own city!

The hotel is quite large and well designed. Check in was the usual warm smiling Premier Inn welcome and my room faced out onto Ballater Street. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed. huge shower, and lots of space to spread out in.

I took advantage of the £22 Meal Deal which gives you a three-course dinner, drink - all from selected items in the menu and a full breakfast the following morning. I certainly didn't starve there!!!

The hotel is served by a few bus routes and Bridge Street Subway station (Glaswegians call their underground 'The Glasgow Subway') is just 5 minutes walk away, serving the City, West End at Partick and Kelvinbridge, and South Side as in Govan and Ibrox.

Despite the ill-founded remarks by others of the surrounding area, I had no problems nor fears at returning to the hotel one evening - you have nothing to fear there.

I liked this hotel so much that I will return and make this my base in Glasgow anytime!

Room Tip: Room 215 - with a view over the city and a huge shower!

A nice place to stay, staff are friendly and the facilities are good as well. Food in the restaurant is good and the service is generally good.
Considering what we pay, it's a good choice.
Will be returning

Room Tip: Avoid rooms close to the lifts.

I have stayed in Premier Inn around the country, and have to say "this is not the best". Can't fault the reception staff, and the room is pretty much standard. However, in the shower of my room the extractor fan was disgustingly black and dirty, and the floor was obviously not cleaned as the cleaner would have discovered that there was a leak under the sink and water travelling across the floor.
The staff were unable to cope with customers coming down for their breakfast, regardless of whether it was busy or not. As I was travelling on business and had to be at work at a specific time, I expect that that there is enough staff on duty to greet the guests when they arrive, instead I was greeted by queues and staff who were unable to acknowledge my presence.
Despite the reassurances by management following similar reviews in the past, nothing seems to change. I would not recommend this particular Premier inn
