We stayed here for Valentine's and had a superb time. The Hotel is in Perth, but sits within ample grounds, so it is very peaceful. The Hotel is adjacent to open Countryside, so the views are pleasant. The decor is traditional, with tartan carpets and curtains, lovely wood panelling, wide staircases etc. The rooms are very spacious. We had an enormous bed which was much bigger than the King size that we have at home. There was also a sofa bed, so the room could have comfortably slept 4. Kids under 15 do go free, but as it was Valentine's we hadn't taken the kids on this occasion. The en-suite bathroom was very well appointed. Tea/coffee making facilities are in the room. There are no fridges, however, we asked for a bucket of ice and this was delivered within minutes! As far as I know, any negative comments on here are about the rooms in the "200" section of the hotel and these were all being renovated when we were there. This did not disrupt our stay at all, but we stumbled across this part of the hotel whilst exploring and that's how we knew. We had pre-dinner drinks in the bar and dinner in the restaurant. The food was amazing. Everything is made on the premises and you can really tell. I chose rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. The service in the bar and the restaurant was second to none. Wine starts at £10 a bottle (for the selected wine of the month). In the evening the heavy curtains are drawn and candles are lit, which makes for a really cosy atmosphere. Breakfast is buffet for things like cereal/juice, but they make your cooked breakfast to order, so it is nice and fresh. We really loved this hotel, so much so, that we have now booked it for our wedding. You can visit this hotel with a dog, but we did not see the cottage rooms, so can't comment on them. There is a lade (stream) that runs through the hotel grounds, but at this time it is empty due to a faulty weir. The council have advised that this will be fixed in April, so then water will start to flow again. Don't listen to any moaners on here, some people are never satisfied!
