“What a great restaurant and bar.”
Reviewed 31 October 2011

You can eat either in the bar or the restaurant. The menu is the same in both.
The staff are friendly and very efficient. The owner, Grant, is almost always there.
The menu is varied. There are plenty of pub style items like lasange and scampy and chips but there are many restaurant type items and the chef is very capable and delivers.

We had dinner there last Saturday. I started with a delightful bowl of Cullen Skink soup whicch is the best I have ever had.

When in Ayr this is definitely a place to visit. They also have rooms so you can even stay.

It is also very reasonably priced for the quality they provide.

Nigel Murray.

This hotel is not to be missed if you are in the area.It begins with welcoming, happy staff and continues with cosy, comfy rooms but never to be missed is the fabulous food...all served by professional cheerful servers.
The meal was delicious and one of the best in three weeks of travelling in Scotland and was totally enhanced by the atmosphere of the dining room.
One was made to feel at home instantly upon arrival and all at excellent value!
I was sorry to only spend one night..be sure to stay longer!

If it's great food your looking for this is the place to go. It's the place where chef's go to eat, The service is first class and the managment always looking after you.Try the Smoked Haddock Risotto, you won't be dissapointed.Steaks are first class and the puddings to die for.Best of luck to Kevin and the team in the kitchen and all the staff, you are the ones that make Chestnuts what it is

The Chestnuts is definitely has a homely feel, just like going to a great friend's house for dinner, drinks and a good catch up. Great quality and variety of food, wines, beers and excellent service. One of my favourite places to dine with friends and family. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending The Chestnuts Hotel to anyone...

Friendly, genuine welcome and food that has been of a consistently high standard for the 10 years that we've been regular visitors. Comfortable, homely atmosphere, excellent value and reliably good service from an experienced team. The Chestnuts is loved by visitors and locals alike. We never get tired of coming back!

Room Tip: Front rooms are biggest and have lovely big bay windows

Been here a couple of times for dinner, the food is just amazing. Steak pie and Lasange are my favourites, and the cheesecakes are just beautiful. Highly recommend to everyone I know and will definately be back there myself soon :)
