John & Helen have a classic cozy Irish home with elegantly beautiful gardens. These engaged hosts provide a top flight Irish breakfast as well as travel tips and maps. They even rescued us our first night in Ireland when we were lost. Discovered we shared an interest in eradicating invasive species of plants from our neighborhoods with both John and 2 fellow travelers who operate a landscaping business so were able to give John some good ideas for his riverbank recovery project. Nice to see his emailed photos of the riverbank project!

Thanks to both of you for that wonderful review. It was a real pleasure for us to share our community projects with each other, and we were thinking of you on the day when we were hanging off ropes to plant the steep river bank! Yours was a memorable visit!

Warm regards,

John and Helen

This is what a B&B should be. John and Helen are wonderful hosts. The room was great. The Breakfast ample and delicious. Both provided great travel advice. They helped to arrange a lunch at Old Head - spectacular! I would not hesitate staying for several days to use the Glencairn as home base for day trips.

Instantly we felt comfortable with John and Helen. They made us feel comfortable and at home quickly. The breakfast was served to order and piping hot. And there were available to answer questions we had regarding our itinerary and how best to accomplish our goals. My wife is a landscape designer so strolling through the garden with Helen was an extra special event. We highly recommend John and Helen Glencairn's B & B!!!!

If you are looking for a place where you are treated like family, this Bed & Breakfast run by Helen and John Fox is just the right address for you!
From the point of making the reservation until the very last moment of farewell they both provided an absolute excellent service, making you feel so warmly welcome that you just want to stay and move in.
The B&B must be their former family home. John used to be a Farmer in the US and you can see lots of little trinkets like John Deere tractors and other heartfelt memories of their life throughout the house. The room we stayed in would easily accommodate a small family, very nice size and clean, towels and all sorts of necessities provided in the room.
Helen was most helpful to plan little day trips around the area and was never short of recommendations, either for a lovely fisher town restaurant or a hidden gem in the area worth seeing.
They both took great care of everyone for breakfast, which is a homemade Irish breakfast made in their own kitchen, and Helen must have been a chef in a previous life. The breakfast was served in the conservatory which is beautifully decorated with plenty of flowers and plants. They both remembered your tea/coffee and breakfast preferences the next morning which is great attention to detail. All in all this was a great value for money and if you would like to explore the beautiful surroundings of Cork, this should be definitely your preferred spot to reside.
I cannot thank them both enough how much they contributed to our experience in Ireland. This destination was the last one after a week of traveling and staying at a different place each night.
Maybe this might not be relevant to some but I myself work in a 5 star luxury hotel in Central London and I believe I have a good understanding what makes an excellent service.

Room tip: We got number 4, stunning view over a lake and overlooking the beautifully maintained garden. Bit smaller shower room.
