Hosts Olive and Kieren are a charming couple and you get a sense you are a visitor into their home, not a guest into their B&B business. This pervaded they way they related with us the night we stayed. We were jet lagged and had unwittingly picked up a seemingly dodgy rental car at Cork airport. It felt like things were against us a bit until we arrived at Auburn House and were made very welcome and nothing was too much to bother about. They were helpful with eating out places and Kieren poured over a map of the city with us, pointing out all sorts of things that he thought might suit with us.
The room was well furnished and ensuite clean and functional. Brekky was champion and a great start to the day and the rest of our travels. I would go back there again.
Close to Cork CBD, easy to find from the airport, easy to link on to the national road from.

Olive and Keiran were by far the most genuinely friendly hosts we had on our Irish trip. We were immediately offered tea on arrivable which is not out of the ordianary but it was a pleasant surprise when Keiran sat down with us to chat. Both hosts were full of recommendations, brochures, and suggestions to help us find our way around Cork. The rooms were modestly furnished and on the smaller side but were clean and being so close to the downtown area was a definite plus. One street down had a few bars/clubs and such so the noise drifted up our way but I still felt safe walking back from across the river late at night. We got an excellent deal on the room so that was a bonus!

Room Tip: If you are staying during a weekend, perhaps ask for a room on the front side of the house. Even wi...

Having just popped into the porch, only to be greeted a delightful chap to be named Keiran. We were shown the way to a three bedroom suite. The room, delicately decorated was comfortable, clean and warm. Keiran was helpful, informative, and friendly. Upon our return from a harsh night in Cork Centre, in plus 2 degrees weather, our key failed to turn the knob open. To our utter disbelief and much door banging the door refused to cooperate. We headed across the road to inform our host. He did not come out in the 2 degree weather but went on to call the tenants of the other rooms, who had apparently locked the front door from the inside for fear of the safe neighbourhood. At long last, a kind lady was polite enough to open said door, and we finally went in. Had a hot shower, and off to bed.

Breakfast was less entertaining; all the same delicious. Prepared there and then by Kieran. All in all, a great stay at Auburn House and will definitely return.

We stayed at some nice four and five star hotels before stopping at Olive and Kieran's little B&B, and this was my favorite place of them all. The rooms are small, but more than adequate. Besides, they're clean and the shower is nice. My wife and I fit a large suitcase and two smaller roller bags and could open them all easily.

But, who cares, this places is about the host and hostess, and they are exactly what anyone dreams of when staying at a B&B. Olive may be the sweetest person I've ever met in my entire life. Both Olive and Kieran will sit down with you and take as long you need to help you with anything from trip planning, to getting wifi, to booking another hotel in the next city you're going to. The breakfast was great too. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

The location is also nice, steps away from city center and plenty of shopping, or from the interesting historical walking tour that Olive recommends.

If you're in Cork, you absolutely must stay at the Auburn House. If I come back, I definitely am staying here again.

A very welcoming and central place to stay. We stayed in a triple room which was really comfortable, great space, comfy beds and a really powerful shower. Breakfast was lovely, Only 5-10mins walk to city centre and the main shopping areas. Definately recommend it!

Auburn House is very well situated in Cork City so once your vehicle is parked in the nearby gated car park, you can walk to all the places of interest, such as the English Market or the train station. (The place to start a great day trip to Fota Island with its Wildlife Park and spectacular gardens, and to the next rail stop, Cobh, with its cathedral and maritime exhibits.)
Olive is the very stuff that B&B hostess legends are made of. She is a dynamo who seemed to enjoy sharing her encyclopedic knowledge of Cork and providing maps, tips, and great recommendations.
The breakfast array included brewed-to-order self-serve coffee, a wide variety of fruits, yoghurts, and cereal, and delicious hot dishes in generous portions.
Our room was large and very comfortable.
