“Good location and value”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2012

The location is convenient to a good walk of Temple Bar district, the castle, shopping and the amazing La Dolce Vita. The staff was marginally friendly - they did order us a taxi upon request, but I was just not impressed with any actual interaction. Granted, we are Americans, so there is that. :) The odd elevator situation on the first floor makes for toting a lot of luggage a bit pain in the rear, so consider that if you are on a long trip, as we were.
The room was very spacious, but we had to keep the windows open because the radiators could not be turned any lower. It was the coldest day of the winter to that point when we were there, and we had every window open!
I booked based on value and location, so I'm not sure what else is around, but I doubt I'll stay here upon my return.

Room Tip: Church view!

Dear Jhawk94,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of the Harding Hotel following your recent stay when visiting Dublin city centre.

I was very happy to hear that you found the hotel's excellent location and value for money to be the high points of your stay with the Harding but was disappointed to hear that you found the staff to be lacking any warmth or friendly welcome.

At the Harding Hotel we pride ourselves on our standards of care and level of service so if you wish to discuss the matter directly with me on info@hardinghotel.ie I would hope to be able to encourage you to return to the Harding in the hope that we may be able to improve your impression of the Harding Hotel and its' staff.

I was very pleased with the room (at under 50 E a night!) I got a fifth floor room directly across from Christchurch. I got used to the bells, and even enjoyed them, but the party- and pub-goers were a bit annoying. Mainly the drunken shouting at 3 and 4 a. Keep in mind that Dublin has a young demographic - half the population is under 25. So it is tough to completely get away from the loud drunk college kids regardless of how much you spend... So why not save on the hotel and buy sweaters instead?!?

Travel to and from the airport is a snap. Save on taxi if you can manage your bag - take the airlink. Only 6 E one way or 10 round trip! The bus leaves you off just about a block from the hotel, and picks up right around the corner. It couldn't be more convenient!

Breakfast is ok. I would give it two stars for taste and texture, three for service, and four for convenience.

Room Tip: Ask for fifth floor front for views - fifth back for less noise (although you might get more drunk e...

Dear janders9,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of the Harding Hotel following your recent stay when visiting Dublin city - we certainly appreciate all feedback in order to constantly improve our standards and services for all our guests.

I was especially glad to hear that found our excellent location to be so convenient for access to travel around the city and to/from the airport as you pointed out, and also for the ease to be able to go shopping, visit the many great tourist attractions surrounding the Harding and to be able to dine and drink nearby.

The Harding values itself on offering great value accommodation with high quality levels of care and attention so it is great that you feel the hotel was excellent value for money and I would hope that should you return to Dublin, that we may be able to accommodate you again with the same standards.

With best regards,

Went to Dublin with friends for a trip a few months back and ended up staying here. This is a great location next to Christchurch Cathedral...easily accessible and centrally located. They had a friendly staff and clean rooms. Everything is within walking distance, especially the Temple Bar district, which begins only a few blocks away. A very good location at a very reasonable price.

We stayed at Harding in February. Got the hotel through enough saved hotel points - so basically free. Saying this, the hotel was perfectly functional - if not a little dated. The room was adequate - unfortunately right next to Christ Church Cathedral - be warned if you face the cathedral the bells ring every 15 minutes for 24 hours! Staff were excellent - lovely little Irish pub under hotel and the hotel was central enough to get anywhere in Dublin without any issues. Would definitely recommend if you are on budget in Dublin. Dublin has some of the best food we have had in Europe - be sure to visit Bull and Castle pub - literally across from Hotel. Amazing food!!! Also, Queen of Tarts for breakfast - if going on weekend - go early as this place gets very busy - also great food.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is not facing cathedral

Dear daswo,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of the Harding Hotel following your recent stay in the hotel while visiting Dublin.

I was very gald to hear that you enjoyed the Harding Hotel during your stay and in particular the hotel's location, the staff and their friendliness and the services provided by the hotel in Darkey Kelly's bar.

As you have pointed out Christchurch Cathedral is across the street from the Harding Hotel but we do find that the Cathedral's charms please more people than they might inconvenience.
Should any guest not wish to hear the bells we would recommend a rear facing room away from the street and the Cathedral.

I was pleased to hear that you found the hotel's excellent location to be so convenient for sightseeing, shopping and socializing while visiting Dublin and I would hope that we may be able to welcome you back to the Harding Hotel in the near future.

With best regards,

The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. I didn't get the breakfast, there are a few convenience stores nearby where you can get coffee, pastries, etc. Loved the bells from Christchurch. If you want to read at night, bring a booklight because the lamps are set in the wall and very dim. Also, I had to unplug the TV to charge my cell phone because all the other plugs were covered...very minor problems, a nice room for a good price.

Dear jeannely,

Thank you for the review that you have posted following your recent stay with the Harding Hotel when visiting Dublin.

I was so glad to hear that you enjoyed the Harding's facilities and the room standards, our wonderfully convenient central location and found the staff to be warm and friendly.

Not everyone likes the Christchurch Cathedral bells but it is nice to hear guests comment positively on them, as they add greatly to the charm and character of the Old City part of Dublin especially at the weekends.

I hope that should you return to Dublin that we may be able to accommodate you again and met with your approval once more.

We really liked this place. It was very nice. The lobby was cheerful, clean, clean-smelling and safe. I loved our room, it overlooked Christ Church and the bells were not bothersome, they were pleasant! It was fairly quiet, we napped and then went out to Darkey Kelly's and came back to bed about ll pm. It was not noisy, streetwise or in the hallways. Staff was helpful, room was sparkling clean, location was super. I highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: if it's a weekend and street noise may be a problem for you, ask for a room on a higher floor.
