“Never again!!”
Reviewed 25 May 2012

After staying overnight in this hotel with a friend I definitely plan on never returning!! To start, the staff could have been a little friendlier, impolite and we were never asked how our stay was (they obviously have had so many complaints in the past and avoid this question at all costs when guests check out). The hallways and room smelled of old, damp mould. The door to our room was very loose..when closed. Did not feel safe even with it locked! Furniture was in tatters (broken drawers, no handles, broken bed etc), TV had 4 channels which were unwatchable (maybe they need to reposition their ariel?). When booking online it said "All rooms can be affected by noise 'At Times' " ..at times..it failed to mention that the nightclub was situated right underneath the rooms and played music extremely loud (so much so the walls shook) until 5am! Earplugs were provided but did no use to block out any noise! Was woken a few hours later to beer kegs being stacked outside at 7.45am and music playing loudly in the hotel again around 8.30am. No heating provided in the room..radiator was stone cold! Bland overcooked breakfast was served the next morning with warm juice..I always thought juice was served chilled..obviously I have been wrong this whole time ha. Overall not a nice place to stay. I work in a hotel myself and none of this would be tolerated in the slightest!! Do not recommend a stay in this hotel whatsoever! If looking for a hotel to stay in Dublin, avoid this one at all costs!!

Very run down hotel, our room was right over one of the clubs and was so noisy the earplugs provided didn't do much to drown out the noise. We booked a room with two single beds and one bed had this massive dip in it so you're basically sleeping in a hole all night. Once you get to sleep around half 4 or 5 after all the people have left the streets outside after leaving the club you get woken around 8am with guys unloading beer kegs and rolling them into the hotel not to mention that the music starts back up around 9am or so... This hotel smelled of mould especially in the halls. There was a hole in the bathroom ceiling covered with a bit of board, the radiator fell away from the wall after the music started.. the presses had no handles. The window was cracked and the room was freezing, would hate to be staying there during winter. Would not recommend this hotel for anyone staying longer then a night. Oh and the deposit of 50 euro is a little expensive.. I mean what could they be checking for before giving it back? The room was already in such a state. Staff were nice and the breakfast was ok although basic.

I have drank here several times recently, and have always, without fail, had an altercation with the very rude staff. They do not seem to value customers whatsoever, and have harangued female colleagues over placing their bags on the floor, or myself for moving a seat from one table to another which had absolutely no implications on anyone else in the bar.

Also it get's incredibly packed due to the drinks offers (the only good thing about this dive), so much so getting a drink can take over 10 minutes. There is usually huge queues due to a strong after work crowd, so avoid rocking up between 5-7.

There is a strong foreign element, there was literally hundreds of spanish students there, presumably due to the cheap drink.

If you’re looking for a good pint this is not the job. The place is packed to the rafters with 18-20 year olds only drinking (spilling) breezers, double vodka redbulls and jager bombs which leads to the Guinness tasting like a lucozade and the toilets smelling of sick. The place itself is a complete let down, you wont get a seat and you wont be able to have a conversation without shouting at each other like a mentalist as the DJ bangs out the latest from the black eyed peas and its raining men hallelujah as loud as he can. Added to the fact the staff and security are notorious for being the most unpleasant and unreasonable in Dublin.

Avoid this place like the plague.

Let's get the bad stuff out of the way first. There is a disco in this hotel that seems to attract half of western Europe's revelers on a Saturday night so this place can get pretty noisy. Didn't worry me too much as I sleep pretty soundly, my snores competing on a level playing field with the wails emanating from the spinning decks (or perhaps I am a little behind with the technology here). The management thoughtfully provide industrial grade ear plugs and, as we were a family of five, endeavored to put us on the top floor (after some issues with the booking were sorted out reasonably amicably).

On the good side, this place is excellent value, less than five minutes walk from St Stephen's Green and barely 15 from Temple Bar if you feel the need to participate in even more riotous assembly. On the whole it is reasonably well appointed and maintained and they deliver up a pretty good breakfast spread. However, the rooms are quite variable in size and standard from what we saw; overall, nudging a pedestrian three star standard in my book.

There was free internet in the lobby but not elsewhere in the hotel. The lift is very small and incredibly slow without being in the least part quaint.

Room Tip: Go for the top floor if you want some quiet.

I was at this place this April..with family varying in ages from 18-50.I found the door staff rude and obnoxious. The management team have still got back to me regarding my complaints. The places' only saving grace is a manager called Ashley.I would not recommend this place to anyone and would rather sleep on the streets of Dublin than step over their door again..enter at your peril.

We stayed at the Russell Court for one night on 30th April. After reading some of the reviews on Trip Advisor we were not sure that we would enjoy the experience. We paid 30euro which included an excellent breakfast with a good selection of food available. The reception staff were pleasant and courteous as were all other staff members we came into contact with.We arrived back at the hotel at about 11.30pm and had one drink in the nightclub accessed through the hotel at no charge. The pints were only 2.50 and we went to bed at around midnight. There was some background noise but certainly nowhere near the level that ear plugs would be required. We heard no further noise during the night. Perhaps it is different at the weekend but on a Monday night it was a perfectly pleasant experience and very good value for money..

Room Tip: We were on the second floor at the front. The Luas runs along the road below but the noise is not e...

My wife and I stayed at the Russell Court Hotel for 2 nights. The hotel was well located within walking distance to all the major sites of Dublin. Staff were friendly and helped out with any of our enquiries. Breakfast was more than sufficient and food available in the bar was of decent quality as well. Other reviews mention the noise issue, but the website clearly states that the hotel is above two bars and a nightclub. Earplugs were provided, my wife used those, but I didn't need them. Those complaining about the noise are perhaps exaggerating somewhat. If you can't sleep, downstairs all pints were only €3 on a Wednesday night! What more excuse do you need to join the revelry and become one of the noise makers?
