“Only stay if you don't plan on sleeping - perfect for a night out”
Reviewed 2 June 2012

I had read the reviews before booking this hotel but went ahead with it anyway as noise does not really bother me.

On arrival, the receptionist seemed put out by having to check us in. She mumbled something about breakfast and check out which neither of us understood, then handed us the key. The stairs and hallways are in desperate need of refurbishment, however our room was lovely. We were on the first floor facing the street, directly over the queue for Diceys/Krystle. We assumed it wouldn't be too much of a problem as it was a Monday and we were heading out for a few drinks ourselves.

Neither of us slept until 4.30am. The noise of the traffic (the luas in particular), the shouting from people in the queue and taxis beeping and swerving around people on the street was unbearable. The music from the clubs was fine, and could barely be heard over the rest of it. At some point during the night the fire alarm was also set off. The earplugs provided didn't help much at all. Just when you think you might get some sleep the luas starts back up every few minutes and at about 7.30 the bottle skips are emptied, followed by all of the old kegs being exchanged.

We had breakfast earlier than planned and then checked out. Breakfast was fine, more staff than customers all of whom stood chatting at the doors to the kitchen for most of it. At check out an argument between management and a staff member had spilled from the private room opposite the desk out into the foyer which was very inappropriate. Check out was abrupt.

I have never before written a review and had never intended to, but feel so strongly that people should avoid this hotel that I was compelled to write one.

never stay in this hotel unless you plan to be out partying until 4am. I stayed here recently on the 1st floor and the noise was unbearable. It is impossible to sleep here while the club is open. The nightclub is on the ground floor and the 1st floor bar had a door onto my balcony where the staff emptied bottles onto it every 20 minutes until 4am.
If you are going out late in dublin it is a fine cheap place to stay as long as you go to bed after everybody else.

Room Tip: I was told all rooms are noisy by receptionist when i asked.

Since the smoking ban came in in Ireland nearly in the early 2000's, few pubs have mad a good effort to build an outdoor beer garden. the Russel Court has pioneered the outdoor beer garden in Ireland. It is AWESOME, a must for any travellor to see. High end with Flat screens everywhere, two level with a night club attaached. No expence was spared here. Great job

Checked in here 1 night stay for €40 for 2 including breakfast good deal or so we thought
The receptionist was not very welcoming and was not really presentable for a first impression. We had to per authorise credit card which is usually standard procedure but we also had to give €50 deposit for room and was refundable on departure very strange we thought. We proceeded to room we used the lift you could hardly get 2 people in lift. Room was warm. Coud do with modernising the caret was very slippy The tv wasn't working it was a portable would also need to be changed to a proper tv come on guys move with the times. The bedroom window was also cracked on one of the panels. Also disco on tht night so very loud and the alarm went off three times during the night. Breakfast was good the staff were properly dressed and welcoming. We will definitely not be returning to this hotel. There are better out there for the same price. They need to really modernise this place.

We went to this beer garden after the Leinster Rugby finals and was very disappointed. The drinks were pricey and the staff unfriendly. We went to the bar outside and inquired about the outdoor grill they have. The bartender told us that we could order off the menu but that burgers would be $2.50 after 9pm. 2 of us ordered because we were hungry and 2 of us waited. I got the cheese burger and my g/f got the chicken caesar salad. My burger was fine, a bit overcooked but alright (for 9 euros), her salad dressing was extremely fishy and the chicken was rubbery (for 9 euros as well). Our 2 friends went up to the bar right at 9pm to order the 2.50 burgers and the cook immediately snapped "NO, I'M NOT COOKING ANYMORE". He was then told there was nothing more being made and no burgers for 2.50. We were lied to and no service or resolution was offered. We finished up our drinks and left.

Oh, and do not try the Captain Morgans Long Island Iced Tea on tap...not good.

My son and I stayed at this Hotel. The staircase up to your room is rather dangerous. It is lapsided with ripped and filthy dirty carpet. The smell of the place is awful. The tiles on the bottom floor are chipped broken and dirty. Breakfast is awful and staff rather unpleasant. we never slept all night due to the noise on the street. The rooms have no air con and are dated. We were asked for a £50 deposit for the room in the event of anything happening. What a joke!
