“Felt like home”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

My husband and I chose Stauntons as the base for our family and friends (24 in total) who were coming to our wedding in Dublin. There were three reasons behind it: the superb location both for wedding (our ceremony was at the nearby University Church) and tourism purposes, the hotel's Georgian feel, and the B&B style in which they conducted their business. From the initial communication to the actual stay, the staff of Stauntons exceeded our expectations. They were very friendly, patient, professional and went beyond what was asked of them (e.g. putting the wedding gift bags in the room). I often went in and out of the hotel and always felt very welcome and every guest of ours felt that way as well. If you're looking for a homebase that feels like home then look no further than Stauntons. Heidi, Michelle and Colette will show you Irish hospitality at its best.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a nice view of the Iveagh Gardens

Beautiful high ceilings and gorgeous matching windows. We had a view of the park and woke up to glorious sunshine once we opened the ornate thick curtains. Bed extremely comfortable and you can't beat the location.

If you arrive by car they will park the car for you, small cost of euro10 per 24 hours and drive it round when you return.

Friendly staff and would definitely go back when next in Dublin.

We stayed here one night. The location can't be beat. It could have been a little cleaner and smelled a little better in our room, but the price and location more than made up for it. The 10 Euro valet was worth ever cent too.

Room Tip: The family room with three beds was awesome, it just smelled a little of BO. The sounds from the str...

...this would be a 3.5 star place. Better than 'average' due to the excellent location close to the city centre and beautiful Georgian areas around Merrion and Fitzwilliam squares, but not quite 'very good' as the B&B itself feels a little tired.

Rooms are spacious and clean enough, but everything just feels as though it could do with a bit of a spruce up. Our bathroom was tiny and very basic. Breakfast was fine, though we weren't upset to miss it on our second morning.

Overall, if you're not planning on spending much time in your accommodation, then this is a fine option. Just don't expect much luxury.

Can't beat the location. Thurs night stay so excellent price. The room was basic but fine. Towels a bit sparse and toiletries a bit glum. Checking in late to a very helpful man on reception. Lovely breakfast and nice to see the busy footsteps on the Green outside the window during breakfast.

A treat to be able to walk in to a time before corporate false-smiled greetings, wall-to-wall tv, piped music and trendy furniture. This place has a calming effect as soon as you walk in and helps make your world slow down so that you can relax. The rooms are well presented and clean. The breakfast is yet again a calming experience.

Room Tip: Choose an upper floor room on two counts. 1) the ground floor rear rooms have full length frosted wi...

Stayed in a triple room in Stauntons with 2 college friends lately and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our room was in the older part of the building and full of character. Its location is really fab-stepping out the front door onto St.Stephen's Green is a treat. The breakfast was lovely and for € 126 for 3 people, good value in Dublin city centre. Will definitely be back!
