“A horrible place”
Reviewed 16 August 2011

Upon arrival we inspected the assigned room and discovered the following:

• there was a disturbing sewage smell from the bathroom
• the shower was not functioning properly and there was no hot water at all
• there was dust everywhere on the carpet as if it had never been vacuumed
• there was a bunch of long human hair inside one of the duvets inspected
• there was a black insect walking on the sheet under another duvet
• there were big cracks on the walls

Because the hotel was in such a horrible state we decided not to stay in it and asked for our money back. We were confronted with a rude manager who refused to give us a refund.

My advice is never use advance purchase to pay for any hotel, otherwise you will not get your money back. This place is so extremely dirty that I would not recommend it to anybody.

Travelled to dublin with 12 other girls for a birthday weekend and wanted to stay somewhere near temple bar so booked the bridge house, was really worried after reading some of the reviews right up until we arrived when i was pleasantly surprised, all we wanted was a clean warm bed to sleep in and a clean bathroom to get ready and that is what we got if you want the ritz then i'm afraid your gonna have to pay the high prices but if you want somewhere cheap and close to all the bars then the bridge house is the place to be, we will definately stay here again on our next trip to dublin.

If your going on an adult weekend and you dont care about luxury extras then Bridge House is perfect.

On a Girlie weekend all we cared about was somewhere clean to change and a warm bed to sleep in. And thats what we got.

We didn't suffer any of the horror stories that you read on here. It maybe is only a step up from a hostel but we did have clean beds, towels and lots of fun. The location is perfect and the cost was cheap. You cant ask for more really.

Awful. The beds were so close together you had to turn sideways to walk between them. The location is of course near Temple Bar, and noise was a problem until the wee small hours then an hour or so after you have dropped off to sleep the delivery traffic and street sweepers start up so little sleep. The ensuite loo was so tiny you had to back into it and sit down before you could shut the door!! The "dining room" was very poorly appointed and we didn't fancy breakfast. There was absolutely nowhere comfortable to sit, neither in our room nor elsewhere in the hotel as far we could see. As my late husband was quite poorly, this was not a good place to be. However I would not recommend it even if we had been on top form. The only people that might be happy to be here would be back-packers as it is really only a step up from a hostel and the only thing going for it was the price at the time.

My Mum and I stayed here for one night. Once we found reception we were given directions to our room, this was found on the top floor (6th) meaning we had to climb a delapidated spiral staircase with no lift facilities. On opening our 'penthouse suite' door, we were gobsmacked to find 3 unmade beds, wet towels everywhere, net curtains hanging off the rails, a brown mouldy shower tray with a door that fell off, no towel rail, no plug in the sink, damp patches on the walls and ceiling and the floor of the room had subsided. The tilt in the floor was so bad that the keys slid off the bedside table!

On entering the room, my mum discovered that one of the unmade beds was saturated in urine right through to the mattress. We requested the staff to clean the room while we were out, when we returned we found they had put clean bed clothes on the still saturated mattress, making us question the cleanliness of the entire 'hotel'.

The staff were not helpful, the hotel lacked security and fire safety. Our room was on the top floor and the ONLY fire exit was the main entrance, 6 floors down! How this place is allowed to stay open is beyond me, let alone charge us 100 euros a night! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I read some comments about Bridge House on trip advisor before our stay, I didnt believe anywhere could be that bad, but this place is!

After reading the vast amount of terrible reviews for this hotel, my friends and I were anticipating what sort of hell hole this hotel would be. We expected to have bed bug bites, rude staff, stained sheets, broken toilet etc....
However, when we got to the hotel we was pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely friendly throughout our whole stay. (The people who said they weren't friendly, maybe you were just unfriendly to them...think about that).
The fact that there was tea and coffee available at all hours of the day (even 5am...trust, we know) was great; as most of the time we were suffering from incredible hangovers.
The room was a great size (we had the quad room). It was big enough for all our suitcases as well as having a space for our drinking games. We was provided with clean towels every day (by the friendly cleaners). Our bathroom was nice and clean. The only trouble was a shower head that wouldn't stay in place. However, luckily, one of my friends was a university graduate and had enough intelligence to make some sort of secure contraption with a hair band.
In terms of the location, you couldn't get much better than the Bridge House. You literally come out the door, walk down a street, and you're in the fantastic temple bar.
Finally, the pricing of the hotel was extremely reasonable. I paid £54 for 3 night at the Hotel. I firmly believe that you get more for your money, and we will be back.
In conclusion, the Bridge House Hotel is a great place to stay. However, do not come here if you're on a romantic getaway, or are an old couple looking for a quiet retreat, or even a family. Loosen your wallet, don't be so tight, go to Center parks or Butlins or something.
P.s I am very sorry for who ever was staying at the Bridge House Hotel from the 12th May -15th. I understand my party were very loud most of the time; but it was my 21st.
