Clean room & free parking, what more could you ask for?

I spent 3 nights at this hotel in February and I was pleased with the value for money that I received. The hotel is very close to the Dart station -- about a 2 minute walk, and I used the train during the daytime but didn't use it at night (I went to the station at 9:30 on a Saturday night, bought a ticket from a vending machine, and then waited in a completely deserted station --no staff, either! -- for about 10 minutes before the train arrived. It felt a little uncomfortable so I took a taxi back to the hotel later. After having lived in Japan for a long time and having just come from New York, I wasn't used to train stations with nobody in them that early in the evening, and it just felt a little eerie to me.)

The location is not dead center of town, but close enough. Again, the free parking makes it great if you have a car, but if not, there are plenty of buses, trains, or taxis to take around town. And walking to the center of town only takes 15-20 minutes.

The room was clean and I appreciated the free wi-fi. I, like others, noticed the loud guests in the hallway late at night, too. I ended up sleeping with my iPod on a "white noise" setting just so it wouldn't bother me for the 2nd and 3rd nights. It's a shame how other guests can make a great hotel a little less good.

All in all, it was a good stay.

Hello
Many thanks for your comments and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.
We do encourage guests to be considerate of others in the evening but are also under going refurbishment at the moment and believe elements of this will help with the noise reduction in the corridors.
Thank you again for your comments and hope we will have the opportunity of welcoming you again to the Grand Canal Hotel.
Kind regards
Sheila Baird

Just spent a night here as part of the "Theatre package" they offer. This includes B&B, 2 course meal & theatre ticket.
The room was quite nice. The food was lovely, both the dinner & breakfast were really nice. Excellent quality food. Service was good.
The only drawback was the really noisy disco, which continued until 1.37 am & the lack of hot water in the shower. The water wasn't even tepid.
The staff were very friendly & helpful, even gave me plasters when I enquired if there was anywhere local I could buy some.
Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as far from the disco as possible if you want to get a good nights sleep.

had a night in dublin to see dirty dancing...hotel was lovely nice room brilliant shower friendly staff . we had pre show dinner would advise anyone doing this to go early as we were rushing our meal to get bus which was coming for us at quarter to 7, we went for dinner at quarter to 6..first course was fast but we thought we would have to go without main meal but it was lovely when it came..breakfast in morning was good plenty of everything fresh fruit, pastries and fry ups. the hotel is a bit out of way a taxi into town cost €9.50 but there was 3 of us so it was fine, hotel runs a bus €4 return to the shows which was very handy..only down side i had was they ran out of brandy and i only had one !!! the waitress was very apologetic but it meant we had to go elsewhere for after show drinks which was a bummer !!!

Stayed here on the 19th of Feb on the theatre package for dirty dancing which included a pre-show meal of starter & main course which all 6 of us fully enjoyed. Breakfast was very nice & its the 1st time in ages I have found scrambled eggs cooked perfectly in a hotel.Staff & service at reception, restaurant & bar are very helpful & friendly. We booked the bus to the show which is an excellent service even at €4 return per person as you literally come out of the theatre & the bus is there waiting for you. Great music & atmosphere back in the gasworks bar & as we were feeling peckish in the early hours the pizza menus that were handed to us went down a treat & everyone seemed to be availing of this service. Our rooms were clean, comfortable & loved the chocs on pillows & the availability of an inroom safe, don't know if this is only on the executive floor though. Secure car park is also provided & is free of charge. Overall location wise the theatre would be a good 10 minute walk & I would consider it not an option in high heels so bus or taxi would be needed & same with heading to the city centre for shopping etc. I did notice that there is a maldron hotel very near the theatre but we were very happy with our selection of the grand canal hotel & would stay there again as I believe it would be an overall central location to the 02,aviva stadium etc.

Room Tip: Executive Floor

My husband daughter and myself stayed here for a theatre to see Dirty dancing The hotel was very nice we had a pre theatre meal included in our package but it was very limited choice and for us fussy eaters it was too restictive starters were caulifower soup something more basic might be better when there is a limited selection Staff were lovely and couldnt be more helpful distance from theatre about 10 mins walk a good walk to town though so depends what youre doing whether this is a suitable venue

Room Tip: Our room was 224 and a terrible noise happened occassionally so maybe avoid this end of hotel

Stayed here on Friday 10th of Feb with a group of friends on the Theatre package which cost €139pp for the show, dinner, bed and breakfast. Car parking was free in the hotel. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The dinner was very good, except the stuffed aubergine which wasn't cooked and was inedible, however the staff were excellent and offered to replace the meal. The rooms were clean. The hotel was full of noisy ladies groups so there was noise on the corridors but as we were party to this I can't complain! All in all excellent value for money. Location wise the Maldron is closer to the Grand Canal Theatre but this hotel does offer a bus to the theatre for an extra €4. Remember you must book your place on the bus at reception. My only real complaint is that the Residents bar service was very slow.
