“Our second stay in Ballymun Travelodge”
Reviewed 17 May 2012

The rooms are large in this Travelodge very friendly staff. Our second time to stay here pleased to be back, easy transport to the city bus stop outside hotel.
In January we booked 14 seperate nights in three Dublin Travelodges all at 19 euro per room so it is possible to avail of the offers but need to get in early.

Room Tip: Bus 4 or 13, 13a from O Connell Street near the Garda Station

They totally pulled a "bait & switch" on us (charged an ungodly price...most expensive of all the hotels we stayed in on our 10 day trip...and the other hotels were all luxury). We were almost mugged on the way out of the taxi into the hotel, but the driver intervened. Nothing (not coffee, breakfast, internet) was included in the outrageous price. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!

Stayed here for one night after a late night flight into Dublin, and have to say that for a Travelodge, this place is pretty good.
The rooms were huge and comfortable ( could do with some showergel in the bathroom perhaps rather than a microsoap), spotlessly clean and a good selection of TV channels. Breakfast included in the price was ok.
The hotel bar is a bit bizarre, with more locals than hotel guests in there, which makes for a lively experience, but the locals were very friendly and this certainly added to the experience of the stay.
Staff at the hotel were also all very helpful and friendly
So this is a great place for a short stay, especially for the price, and would happily stay again.

the hotel itself was wot I expected, clean basic had everything I needed. I had took a walk to the shops and was shocked at how badly run down the whole area is around the hotel from the old building behind the hotel to the very old shopping centre across the road, also alot of gangs hanging about the area so be careful if your out on your own. other than that stay in the hotel it's clean good value and I had no complaunits about it.

We could not book a room for one night at our usual Travelodge in Pheonix Park, so opted for Ballymun, as we were arriving into Dublin AIrport. The Ballymun area is under rejuvenation, so the area looks a little run down and daunting but the hotel has secure underground free parking, with access directly from the car park to the reception area. The first room we were allocated was at the rear of the hotel with a small balcony, but unfortunately the lock on the balcony door did not have a key. We notified reception and the room was change to one at the front of the hotel, with an apology, as the room should not have been allocated.

The room at the front of the hotel was large and spacious and clean with very little noise heard from outside or from other rooms within the hotel, although the hotel seemed full with young people / groups. We ate in the METZO bar and lounge during the evening and the food was lovely, swift service and fairly reasonable price for Hotel food. Breakfast the next day was full Irish and plentiful.

All in all a good value for money hotel with easy access to the motorway system for the rest of Ireland.

We stayed in this hotel on a budget for a weekend in Dublin so wasn't expecting much but the hotel itself was lovely, clean and the staff were really helpful and friendly!
We ate in the hotel once, which was really nice.

Location is ok, there is a bustop opposite the hotel which has direct buses into Dublin which we used many times and just got a day pass.

The hotel is right next to an estate which to be honest isn't nice and we wouldn't walk outside the hotel at night but we never had any bad experiences!

All in all a lovely hotel and i would stay there again.

Dear xSunSeaSandx

Firstly thank you for taking the time to review our hotel we were delighted to see you enjoyed your stay with us,

I have passed on your comments to all the staff and they are delighted with the feed back.

In relation to the location as we are a city hotel I’m afraid we have to work with what we got and I can assure you that the location is very safe. The local authorities have removed the large apartment complex beside the hotel which will shortly be developed as a green land area. This we hope will help with the appearance.

We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future.
